Hi all! My dad is getting remarried this Summer and I have no idea what to get as a wedding gift. They literally have two of everything, and we will be flying in with carry-on's only. Any good ideas for a family on a budget? I wish I could say money is no object but it's just not the case! TIA!

I would think they consider the fact that you are flying in to be there for the special day, the gift!

If you can afford a restaurant gift card maybe do that, or a donation to a favorite charity. Or if you are crafty, design a frame or photo album. Or maybe a gift certificate for a photo book on shutterfly .

Where are they going? Can you arrange for something special when they get there-- champagne and chocolates, tickets for some special event, an upgrade of some sort?

A framed group portrait of your family.

Something that you can have delivered in advance of the wedding.

How about making a Shutterfly photo book of their relationship? Something like that can be really special and there are usually coupons and discounts for Shutterfly that can make a book very reasonably priced.

Tickets for a concert or theater, an annual membership to a museum or something they like near where they live, a weekend at a bed and breakfast, restaurant gift certficiates, delivery of wine of the month or Omaha steaks or something of that sort.

Since you are on a budget and it is costing you to bring your family to the wedding, I would look for a token gift. You could find something simple that you could monogram for them.

If it's a blended family I like the idea of a family portrait. This can even be done the day before the wedding. You can bring it to Costco's or any of the drug stores and get it back the same day.

This.

I like a restaurant or bed and breakfast gift certificates for the couple that already has everything. I got some restaurant gift certificate for my aunt and uncle when they got married (ages 40s and 50s) - both of their first spouses were deceased. For some dear friends who were getting married for the second time, we got them a certificate for a B and B about an hour away from where we live that included dinner and breakfast.

I'm big on experience gifts va stuff for just about any gift giving event - I think gifts of a date night (dinner and a movie?) is great. We might put the gift cards in a nice picture frame to serve as the 'packaging'.
