Who Wants To Try a DIS-Meet At Gulf State Park In May-June 2016?

This month will fly by for me. All next week I'm working nights during a plant shut down doing rescue stand by. The heading to the outer banks for a week with my best friend for his wedding. Then coming home and leaving 5 days later for the Gulf.

Debating on leaving home early that first morning and maybe tour the Alabama and Drum. My oldest hasn't been on it since she was 3 and the youngest has never been on it.

Only thing, we may be bringing the Jack Russell with us. She is elderly, deaf, and has a chronic cough. Can't leave her in the truck. I hate to leave her with my parents as my mother feeds her non-stop and her breathing gets worse when she puts on the extra weight.

Probably be a last minute decision.

Touring the Alabama and Drum sounds good, maybe some others may like to go and you can plan it another day, and the you can leave her in a air conditioned camper!

And.... Tiggerdad if you want you could leave early and stop my house and help me wash the camper! I'll give you the easy job, washing the soap off with the hose pipe. I have a new jar of pineapple shine that we can test out.

Yyyeeeaaahhhh...No. After washing my truck and camper and I usually go into about a month long "I ain't washing nothing else" mentality. I'll drink a beer at my site for ya though. Maybe even go over and drink one at your empty site that day.

Hey, I'm gonna ask Michael or Randy to do me a favor (since you have my phone number).

Check-in officially is at 2pm but I'll be coming down that morning and getting into the Gulf Shores area around lunchtime (conveniently) on that Tuesday. If one of ya'll could periodically check on site #4 on the corner across the road from the lake, tell me if there is a guest on it and when he clears out. If I know he's gone and I can get on it sooner, that would help. So call or text me.

Of course if they leave out on Monday and it sits empty overnight, tell me and I can leave at 4am and be there for breakfast. :teeth:

Yeah Ed we can take care of that, no problem. Now we'll just have to see what Michael will be cooking for breakfast that morning, haha!

I'm thinking that I will do the same thing Ed. Michael will be there Thursday so he could let me and Flame know if our sites are clear. That will determine for me what time I leave the house Friday.

I know DS would like to see them too. We were in San Diego 2 years ago and toured the Midway aircraft carrier. He really liked that. I know he'll love the Drum.

You're washing the camper and then getting bugs splattered all over the front? I say we have Michael at least wash off the front of our campers. He is arriving early and should be rested up before we roll in.:D

Hey Ed, no problem on the site scouting thing. Even if there is another guest on the site I could just be my usual Mississippi self and be that neighbor that encourages you to want to pack up and move on.

This should make sure you guys are ready to go early in the morning.

We are going to shoot for arrival around 2pm ourselves. Get in and have camper setup then go hit some restaurants and maybe get my wife to go ahead and get that blasted shopping out of the way so I can actually have a vacation.

Randy, breakfast depends on what I run over on the way down from Meridian.

Jim, I'll have my long handle brush with me as I usually always wash the front of the camper and truck after arrival to campgrounds. You can borrow it and I'll even offer to tell, NOT SHOW, you how to use it. For a little extra I'll offer to sit in a chair and drink a beverage while critiquing your work.

Oh man I love roadkill stew. There was a gas company from Mississippi that would come tailgate at the Senior Bowl here every year that gave away all you can eat roadkill stew. Lots of folks wouldn't eat it but me being a half brain dead motorcycle cop I figured on dying young anyway so I bellied up and got my fill. No idea to this day if it was a joke or real but hey I'm still here some 25 years later.

Yall may wanna check your email, and look for a email from Ashley Guinn at GSP, the email has information about a express check in which is a new system and information on how to enroll. The other was the information Ed shared with us about Road 2 being closed. I asked Michael if he received the email and he said, it was not in his in box it was marked as spam, so if you can't find it let me know and I will forward the email to you.

Randy,

I don't have it but I am coming in a couple days behind you so it may not be time for me to receive it yet. I will give it a couple of days before I follow up with you.

What's the matter with this guy camping next to you? He probably has the best BBQ and coldest beer. This is the kind of people I buddy up with. Just don't mention politics, women's rights or say anything about the South losing that war a century or so ago. o_O

Actually, bring 2 chairs. I have an 18 year old that doesn't appreciate what he has. Learning the finer points of a long handled brush may do him some good.

Randy, When did you get the email? I checked my Spam box and all the other boxes, I don't see anything. Go ahead and forward it if you don't mind. My DIS user name @gmail.com'

Thanks,
