News Round Up 2016

The rumors I have heard are that DHS could overlay TOT or RNR with Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) now, but would have to take it out in a few years. Supposedly at some point in Infinity Wars the GOTG characters will appear. As soon as that happens, then Universal's agreement would kick in as it includes all characters associated with the ones they currently have so at that point, the GOTG characters couldn't appear at the WDW parks any longer. Admittedly this is all rumor, but it may be a reason if we find DCA gets it and neither ride in DHS does.

Disney cannot use characters (and their predefined character families) featured at Universal. Simply being in the same movie or comic does not make them a part of that family and has no bearing on theme park rights.

Spirit mentioned the frozen ride a while back and now micechat has picked up on it. WDW of course is stuck with frozstrom...

If you don't think the Frozen ride at Disneyland/Fantasyland won't be essentially a clone of the Norway ride - you are kidding yourself.

Hey - I gotta say, a lot of REAL stuff going on lately. This makes this thread much more fun.

Another comment on ToT/GotG - it makes a lot more sense in DCA because it is a changeover to have a true Marvel Land. Disney is rather strapped in Florida because though they can use GotG all they want, so far there's really no one else they can use in Florida. (Ant-man is an original Avenger, so I imagine he would fall under the Avengers deal. GotG are NOT Avengers - and therefore don't fall under that deal, even if they show up in a future movie. ) I think the other issue they are concerned about is confusion in Florida. Advertising Marvel as part of DHS could be dangerous. People come expecting to ride the Hulk Coaster or Spiderman ride, when they don't do it they realize they'd rather go to Universal. Driving people to Universal is not in Disney's best interest.

Flowing was probably the wrong term. Circulating is perhaps more accurate. Technically that's a type of flowing but the water is going round and round rather than to a larger body of water.

Again I could be wrong, but usually these sorts of bodies of water circulate through filters and then either bubble or have fountains to aerate them.

Well I guess this is the answer to my question. I hope the filters work!

They will have to have a lot of very strict policies around this park. They made a lot of decisions around the fact that the Chinese are not that familiar with the Disney culture in a theme park setting. For instance, the queues had to be specifically designed to avoid line jumping, which is a really common practice in Chinese theme parks... A lot will have to be done to educate the crowds.

Line jumping is common practice in China....period. I've got friends who have been living in China for 6 years, and this is something that was very culturally shocking to them. Apparently in China, it is considered appropriate to try and fight your way to the front of any line anywhere.

Spotted new Disney Springs branding on the Hotel Plaza Blvd. coaches this evening. Pictures are not the best and you can't get the colours on the new wraps but they are much better than the old blue ones that' for sure.
