When to book flights?

We too are waiting for WestJet to release the rest of March! Have a companion flight to use and some WJ dollars. The DS will be in grade 12 so this will be our last March break trip!

I'm seeing some good prices. $198 to MCO and $150 back to Toronto. CDN$. But only for flights mid week for our dates. Think I'll see if we can move our resort reservations to fit with these.

ETA: looks like West Jet has a similar sale. They both end May 5.

Aw, thanks. Talked it over with DH, and he pulled the trigger. Was able to move our dates at the resort and got the West Jet flights ( because all else being equal, who wouldn't rather fly WJ than Rouge?)

And the flight times for direct flights seemed better than the weekend. One more thing off the checklist! Now comes the hunt for ADRs....

I've flown 4+ times with Rouge now & while never pleasant, at least the flights have always been on time. But know where you are coming from with Westjet. Prices being equal on seat sales, I'd spring for Westjet, too. Have a great vacation with your family!

WestJet released the rest of March today, prices are high for mid March which is March break for a lot of school boards.

Yeah, I saw that and now we are seriously thinking about driving again. It was $1800 to rent a van for two weeks this past spring. It was really easy on gas, as well. Certainly not $3800+ for 4 people.

Do prices go down?

This can't be the best West Jet prices for March?
I hate Rouge (Air Canada) but wow the WJ flights are high.
Hoping the Econo rates are posted soon.

I wish WJ would tell us when they are releasing flights! I guessed it would be this weekend based on my last March booking. I still got up too late and most of the econ fares were gone, still did OK. Used two companion vouchers that came to 250.00 return each, the other two fares were 750.00 each. So around 2000.00 for the 4 of us. All direct flights out of Toronto. Good flight times as well.

I am still not seeing any Econo flights ,,only Flex and Plus,,is that how they open their bookings?

They are probably all sold out if you do not see them. There can be as few as 8 seats available per flight in economy.

Hi Hon
Well I called WJ and talked with them,
I got the flights I wanted and early dept from YYZ and late departure from MCO.
I used the companion flight voucher and they allowed for compensation due to American Airlines advertising the flight for a cheaper price (I used google flight search).
So all in taxes included $518.00 each direct non stop.
Cheaper than last year and better times. Mel is a happy Nana today!
Now to get my DVC resort booked.
The planning has started.

Did you have to 'convince' them to give you those flights or were they available for booking and just not showing on their website. I'm stunned at the difference between Flex and Econo. To get decent flights I might have to book 7 extra days and then you wonder if it's worth it, as you'll be paying for hotels, food, etc.

Yes I did have to "convince ' them,,I said I was upset that I could have booked Air Canada for around 400-500 dollars but waited for WJ to use the companion flight coupon I have and that I found a cheaper flight using the
Google flight application for the same flight they were advertising. I did give them the American Airlines flight numbers,,she said she could see what I was referring to.
I am wondering when Sunwing flights come out if they would be any better?

My son just booked a flight same days as us but the flight down to MCO has a short layover (1 1/2 hours) in South Carolina via American Airlines,,however the flight back is with WJ (we are booked on the same flight) and his price is $523.00.
He used the American Airlines web site to book.

I've seen Sunwing prices for next year, but not times for flights. I've worked it back and it seems October is the latest that there are flights with times. That said, they seem to be pretty consistent with their times, so maybe they're selling flights for next year, but just don't have times finalized.

Congrats Mel! That is a good price for March break out of TO. I was tempted to wait for Southwest out of Buffalo. We have a 1000 am flight out and a 215 pm return. Also booked the Vistana Villages today.

Yep I am happy,,my sons have done BUF to MCO before but when we included the hotel,parking and unpredictable winter weather and the fact we live 15-20 minutes from YYZ this just made more sense.
I got a 10:00 am flight out and a 9:40pm return. Last year I took the 7:00am return and Disney Magical express
had me boarding at 3am----Yuck!
I just booked OKW (Old Key West--home resort) for the March Break- :flower:

.My grand daughter is very excited
and so am I.
I've looked at pictures of Vistana Villages and the resort looks beautiful.
We need Gina to start a "Who's Going In 2017" thread. :yay:

The times were not available though.

Well, it's more than I wanted to pay, but I locked in some A/C Flex flights for next year. At least the times were better than the remaining Tango or the WestJet flights. DH just wanted it over with, so done and seats selected. Now I just have to wait for Air Canada to rejig all their flights and move me around, probably to a time that's not as good as what I booked and paid for.

What's so horrible with Rouge? Isn't it all just Air Canada? I mean, I see that they expect you to have your own entertainment system, but other than that, is there something I should know about?
