Newbie :)

Hahaha! Thank you - I would say! I have been lurking for a while but wanted to join the community. You all seem so knowledgeable and friendly :)

You can change your avatar after ten posts. There is a thread about changing avatars and other newbie info like that in I think it is called "Welcome to the disboards" or something like that. :)

@disneydaddan - I am enjoying the boards! Reaĺly good community - kind and helpful people. I am planning a trip for my family and have never been to WDW but understand you can't not plan - totally winging it is not an option. :) I have been lurking for a while but thought I would join to ask questions and try to figure out if I was on the right track. Yourself?

Well, I've gone to Disney many times but got divorced 2 and a half years ago and haven't been since. Seeing how I love Disney as much as I do, I figured I'd join here and who knows, maybe my princess is out there. But yes, you have to plan for sure. It can be overwhelming.

Well, I wish you all the best in your quest. :)

I agree about the planning. There is so much to think about and for someone who has never been there, it is hard to plan a wrek long vacation based on online menus. The reviews have been very helpful on here though. And the feedback and conversations I have had have been so helpful in gaining good insight into planning.

I totally agree with what you are saying. It's really kind of funny, you are at this amazing place and you end up planning your trip around the dining. We all do it and there are some great restaurants. You'll find your favorites and they will be destinations in the future. I hear Be Our Guest is amazing for lunch or dinner.

Cool :) We actually gave ADRs for Be Our Guest for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My DD5 is going to love dining in the castle, my DS8 is going to love the Tusker House and Hoop Dee Doo Revue I hope, and DH is flexible with the best of them, so I am hoping all are happy by the end of the week. Not looking forward to the drive though... I am betting we won't even get to the border before the kids are going to be asking when we will be there. Aw well... what can you do?

Oh wow, I didn't realize you were driving. Ugh! Well all the restaurants you picked are great choices. I'm sure all will be happy. I want to hear all about it for sure. If I can't be there, I may as well enjoy hearing about yours.

Haha yes. Oh I wish we were flying but at least my husband doesn't mind doing the majority of the driving. I drove through Chicago once. We made it, but it was pretty tense! Haha! I drove into Chicago earlier than my DH was anticipating as he was going to drive through Chicago. I woke him up, "so we are in Chocago..." "how do you know?" "Ummm...The huge Wrigley Field sign." But I was in thr middle lane of the highway so I just kept driving. As soon as we were out though I needed a break! Tedious. Lol

The kids don't know we are going. I am planning to give them a map with major cities on it and see if/when they figure out where we are going.

Thanks for the affirmation on my restaurant choices! Again, hard to pick restaurants never having been there, but we have ADRs for the aforementioned restaurants (BOG, TH, HDDR, CRT), and we also have ADRs for 50s Prime Time, Akershus, Ohana, and Le Cellier.

I'm most looking forward to seeing the kids react to all of it. None of us have been but the kids are just going to lose it. Haha! :) and I love that it will all be a surprise! :)

That's how I started. I was lurking for the many years that I've been going to disney, and then I decided to bite the bullet and join the community. I've actually never been part of a forum, and it's actually out of my comfort zone (I think I suffer from social anxiety, haha). But i've been loving it so much, and there is nothing but positivel, helpful people on here. Of course people express negative experiences and such, but they do it in a way that is helpful instead of as an attack, which I think is so rare when you come to an opinion based website.

I hope you have the time of your life planning for WDW. It's one of my most favorite parts. Just don't get too sucked into planning, sometimes it's okay to go with the flow, and believe me, I am an over-planner! It's just you learn that not everything goes as planned, especially in a place as elaborate as WDW.

BOG is honestly an awesome experience. I loved the food. Make sure you ask for the "the grey stuff". It's delicious.
