Crafty Question...

well, the question isn't crafty but the topic IS crafts....

I see that people fashion light cards/key cards as FE gifts. How does one go about repurposing an old hotel card or gift card for this? If you paint it, doesn't the paint scratch off?
So, basically, after having googled for instructions, I have turned to the DIS gurus for help.....

It would depend on the paint you use. Experiment with acrylic spray paint and scratch it with your fingernail. If it scrapes off, try something else.

yeah......i just thought someone would have some real life experience. thanx for the tip, though

I did not respond because I wanted to see if anyone else had an answer. I am pretty sure that the people that give them as FE are not DIYing, but ordering from ETSY sellers that have access to the machines that laser cut and print the cards. I dont think they are recycling old cards? Have you checked the crafting board?

I would assume you could print something out and glue it on the front - We usually just use one of the KTWC we used to get at WDW - now I just use whatever old card I have in my wallet

I reused old ski passes and gift cards and used adhesive mailing labels made for inkjet printers, printed my design on them, then cut to size and stuck them on the front of the card, and glued a small magnet on the back (magnetic walls on the ship!) They were not too thick to fit into the slot, although the label got a little scraped after a few days.
