VGF Thanksgiving question

I am an owner at VGF that usually uses 1 bedrooms during the Thanksgiving weekend. Next year we are going to try a 2 bedroom and I will be about 57 points shy. I have the points in another contract from SSR, but obviously need to wait 4 months to use them.

I have 2 choices to solve the problem:
1) Find a member that is willing to transfer those points to me (very low probability to find someone within the next 3 weeks)

2) Book 1 less day than we want to stay, and take the chance on the 7 month window for the extra day to use the SSR points.

So we want to book Tuesday night check-in before Thanksgiving, and Monday morning after Thanksgiving check-out. Traditionally what day would be harder to fill at 7 months...the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving or the Sunday night after?

TIA

I have no data, but my guess would be that your chances are better for the Sunday night after, for all those people who have to be back at work/school on Monday.

You would have lost on both ends in 2015 since VGF 2BRs were full 7 months out from either of those days. The Tuesday to Friday of Thanksgiving is in fourth place of the highest DVC demand times of the year. The highest, unfortunately, usually begins that Sunday after Thanksgiving as you run into early December.

You may want to find someone who will rent you one of the nights, and then you can link your reservation with the rental so you would not have to change rooms. Rentals, where the owner makes the reservation in your name, are usually easier to find than someone who will transfer to you the points needed for that one night. Though the 2BRs may be gone by 7 months out, you should have some time after the 11 month window opens to get that one night since the dedicated 2BRs are usually the last to fill at that time of year. (You should reserve a dedicated 2BR not a lock-off at 11 months out because lock-offs do disappear quickly once the 11 month window opens because of studio reservations.)

If you are going to reserve and take the risk at 7 months out, and likely then have to hope for a wait list to come through, I would likely choose the Sunday because it might not be quite as bad as usual since Dec 1 is not until Thursday and some who usually hit WDW the time right after Thanskgiving weekend may delay for a week.
