Best plan for Chef Mickey's

We are considering eating at Chef Mickey's on our last Magic Kingdom day. We will be relying on Disney transportation to get us from POR to the Contemporary. Which of the following plans would likely work best for a 2-year-old and 4-year-old. Thanks in advance!

1. early breakfast reservation, MK by 10am, stay through the afternoon parade, back to the resort to crash

2. sleep in a little, MK around 10 through afternoon parade, early dinner reservation, back to resort

3. MK for rope drop, leave for lunch, back for parade, back to resort

4. A better option that I haven't yet considered

I really think option 4 - any restaurant in MK (TS or CS) is a better choice than Chef Mickey's, both for food or atmosphere.

If you're absolutely sold on Chef Mickey's, I would go with option 3. Never give up the first couple of hours a park is open to eat in a restaurant (especially this one.)

We had a late breakfast at CM in a non park day and made an event of it - breakfast, monorail, resort exploration - and it was a great Disney-light half day before spending the afternoon at the pool. We actually really liked the breakfast buffet.

That being said I wouldn't sacrifice park time, especially RD, for CM. With The age of your kids, I also wouldn't plan on it being your break from the park. If your kids need a break they are going to need a real break.

That being said, we really enjoyed the experience and it was a great way to meet the fab 5 without waiting on lots of lines. So I would definitely try to get it in, but not on a full park day.

If you think you are going to want to leave the park early anyway, option 2 might be a good idea for you.

Option 4-arrival day dinner. That is what we do as we don't do a park as we are tired from the flight and don't need to be anymore tired. So we swim at the pool and I make reservations for 5 or as close to 5 as possible.

If your kids like Mickey's Clubhouse, they will love Chef Mickeys. We went there when my DD was at her peak love for Mickey's clubhouse and I think she about died with happiness! She loved all the Mickey pictures and the Mickey statues. Then she just loved meeting ALL of the fab 5. We have gone a few times and always enjoyed it. I think there is a lot of debate over the character buffets and I honestly don't think there is a huge difference in quality.

If you have a break day, I think a very late breakfast is great. Because it is a bit of an event and the Contemporary is a pretty cool resort to check out.

If a break day isn't an option, I would likely go with option 2. I personally find it really difficult to get out the door in WDW so I do not schedule very early reservations. But I have a child who hates being rushed in the morning!

We always do an early Chef Mickeys ADR. My kids are always up at 5:30-6 so getting out the door by 7 for an early breakfast is no problem for us. have a 9 year old and a 2 year old. That being said I always thought Chef Mickey's breakfast food was better than their dinner food. Its also less crowded in the early mornings than the dinner crowds. If you can get your kids up and out for an early ADR than I would go for that. Plus it gives you a more time at MK for the rest of the day.

If I were going to Chef Mickey's, I wouldn't do it on my departure day unless it's the last thing I do before I left.
