Renting a car convenient?

im wondering if it's worth the money to rent a car on my next stay at BWV. I've never done it and was thinking about trying it for the convenience of faster airport transfer and getting to and from MK, AK and downtown Disney? Is it worth it? I'm getting impatient with the bus service.

Parking at BWV is so bad, you will not save much if any time going to parks. But you will save $$$ on meals if you just go off site to eat a few meals.

We usually rent for part of our stay. Either from MCO and drop off at the dolphin or a short rental from the dolphin for resorts changes, shopping, and to eat meals off property.

When staying at OKW we take DME to the resort, then rent a car at the Disney Car
Care Center with National or Alamo. We also rent an ECV so we get a full size car and
DH is more comfortable using the car. I have convinced him to use the bus to get to MK
and we tried it last trip. All other places we drive.

If your next stay is before the renovation is completed, my advice is to hold off getting a car until your next visit, unless you are willing to pay for valet. Self-parking is really an issue right now. You may find yourself forced to park across the street - and hiking 1/4 to 1/2 mile from that lot to your room. Personally, I'd rather put up with the buse and I don't mind walking a bit. YMMV.

I used to always rent a car, even while staying at BWV. Rental car prices have gotten so high, I haven't done it in awhile. Parking is an issue plus I like that DME delivers the luggage. 2 parks are close. If I was staying at OKW, SSR or AKV, I wouldn't hesitate to rent a car.

You really have to shop for rental deals and codes but often they can be found. When renting at MCO we have one of our party use DME and have the luggage delivered.

Some people will find the value in renting a car for families to travel around the resorts and parks or even to explore outside of WDW. I personally have never rented a car when I go to WDW because believe it or not I do enjoy taking the various WDW transportation options (boats, monorail, buses and even walking). My least favorite is probably the magical express from/to the airport to the resorts only because it seems that I usually wait a long time for the next bus and my resort is always the last to be dropped off and picked up.

We almost always stay at BWV and we always rent a car. But that is partly because DH uses a scooter and he does not want to deal with people giving him "the evil eye" at the bus stops. We also use the car for church and groceries and Disney Springs and AK and MK. Sometimes we head over to Celebration or Cocoa Beach. And, because DH has multiple health problems, I feel more secure having my own wheels. That being said, we leave tomorrow for BWV and it sounds like parking is a nightmare during construction. We will use valet if necessary. Convenience is huge for us when we are on vacation.

If we can make it through the whole trip with no medical issues, we will be thrilled. Thank, Bobbi!

We always rent a car. My DH prefers having a car instead of using Disney Transportation.

We always rent a car, but not as an alternate to DME. Last couple of times I got it at Swan/Dolphin for a reasonable price. We use it for grocery shopping, split stay moving and visiting outside WDW and on rare occasion to go to the WDW parks or other WDW resorts
