Is it weird to do character meets as an adult with no children?

I've never felt weird during character interactions and love having conversations with the characters. This is one of my favorite character photos from the last trip. No matter how old, I love to meet the mouse!

I've been known to get in line for an old-school character (like Horace Horsecollar) on my own. But the best example is when a buddy and I left the wives at home to do the half marathon at WDW. We stopped several times along the way for character pics (including Jack Skellington and Sally, a rare treat). Then the following day at MK we embarked on a Princesspalooza and got pics with Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, etc. Was a hoot, and they fussed appropriately over our medals. I'm sure it got old for them having to make chitchat with folks about the race all weekend but they were great and stayed in character the whole time. Also got pics with Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Minnie in the new Fantasyland (Donald is the 1/2 marathon mascot so we had him sign our race bibs too). It was great fun.

The characters are FANTASTIC when you're wearing a medal. Everyone talks (or mimes, or gestures) to you about it!

Character greeting as an adult are super fun. I'm a thirty something adult and usually travel to the parks with my mom we love character greetings. We would never wait in line longer than 10 mins to meet anyone, but they make for great memories and great photo opportunities that we'll forever have.

I've never did a character meet without kids or for myself, but it's WDW! Where else are adults supposed to let the inner kid out? I say enjoy it! You paid just as much as anyone else in line to be there. And cranky people will be cranky people no matter what you do.

My fiancee and I did breakfast at the crystal palace. I was a bit nervous going in but our server was amazing and believe it or not that seems to make all the difference. The characters were really fun too. Especially Eeyore! He was adorable.

Also because it was out of season there weren't that many kids in the restaurant and actually a lot of the tables around us were adults which was really nice.

No way is it just for kids!!!! Disney should be a place where even adults can be part of the magic!! Do it and don't apologize for it! My best pictures and memories are from the character greetings! :)

This is awesome!!!!!

I tried taking pictures of just the characters from behind the queue, quickly before the next group gets up to the character. Nearly impossible. When the new Fantasyland opened I got into line at Ariel's Grotto, mainly to check out the new location. I got a photo of Ariel posing for me on her own, then had the character attendant take one of me with her. Got some great shots. Now I regularly go to meet and greets just to get the photos of the characters. I get a shot of just the character on his/her own, then I get a shot of me with the character. As far as how other people feel, I don't care what they think. I want pictures of the characters. I feel it is part of the Disney Park experience. Do I feel weird waiting line to see Sofia the First? Absolutely! lol But I want pictures of ALL of the available characters.

A lot of times I get some kid behind me run up to the characters as I am the next person in line. Most parents don't even care. Sometimes they can be downright rude about it, allowing their child to push (literally) right past me standing in line so they can get their picture with the character. That can get annoying.

Yeah. That is one drawback. Kind of like the people who want to walk up to a parade spot 5 minutes before (when you've been waiting an hour or more), and shove in front of you because they have kids and you don't.

Our trip in Dec was over the FIL's B'day. My wife made signs saying 'Happy Birthday' which over the course of the holiday we asked all different characters to hold while we took a photo (as well as having our photos of course!). I then made a slideshow of all the photos with 'When You Wish Upon a Star' as the background music, which we then emailed to him on his Birthday.

Every Character in every park or resturant was obliging, and during our Meal at Garden Grill, even the CMs were coming over to have their photo taken and getting the other CMs to come over.

You are never to old for any sort of fun in any Disney Park

Love this idea!! We'll be celebrating a birthday over our trip in Nov and belatedly celebrating an anniversary...how big were your signs?? How did you carry them around the parks without them getting messed up or annoying??

Meeting Mickey Mouse in person brings out the 11 year old in me.. next summer I'll finally be back in the World end of July, and my MUST do is to meet talking Mickey for the first time in the Magic Kingdom.. though I think I'll burst out in tears when he actually talks to me .. haha..

That will sound weird to some people.. but I really don't care.. it'll make me the happiest person in the world for that moment .. The same thing came over me the first time I went to WDW after many many (32) years of dreaming about it and standing there in front of the station at the magic kingdom.. watching the opening ceremony.. and there he came.. Mickey & friends on the train.. it was the best and most magical moment .. it's hard to explain to people who haven't seen it.. Or the moment I first saw him appear on top of the mountain in the final scene from Fantastic and hearing the cheers of all the crowd around me... Mickey is all about optimism and joy to me.. and I'll never be ashamed to have a meet and greet with him without kids.. cause there'll always be a kid inside me.. waiting to burst out at the sight of him.. :)

Part of the fun of being at Disney is being able to be little kid again for that time! Don't let anything change that. If you want to meet some of the characters go for it! I did that one time. It was actually funny. I went to some of the princesses, I have a tattoo on my shoulder and all of them made a comment about it in their own way. Some of them made comments about how it was painted on and others would say it was magic on my arm. Made my experience better. So I say go for it =)

That's so sweet, I almost cried! :)

My husband and I did a ton of character meets (like, character breakfast almost every day of our 8 day trip plus lots of them in the parks) and it was a blast. Chip and Dale were hilarious- Dale tickled my husband pretty aggressively to get some good pictures (it worked) and DH still refers to Dale using a bad word. Sully and Mike Wazowski were a lot of fun, and Stitch and Donald Duck were awesome, as was Mickey. It was so much fun and we never felt awkward. If anyone with kids had an issue we never knew, we just enjoyed ourselves.

My 26 year old daughter and I did some meet and greets with Mickey and the some of the other club house members (pluto and donald). My 4 year old niece loved them and I will be making her an album cause that is all she talked about. She is convinced that we went JUST to take pictures for her and bring her home a stuffed animal!! lol
