love using airport lounges to escape the business of airports but have never booked one for MCO. Is there a bookable lounge at MCO?

As above, especially where the gates are that most Brits are flying out of. I think there is just the Delta lounge, that you can't pay to use IIRC

We have used the Delta lounge a few times when flying Business class, definitely not worth paying for even if you could, small, busy, no food, just drinks and newspapers.
Last time flew American business class, no lounge option at all.
MCO is not a great airport for lounges.

Just going to look for Virgin lounge options at Atlanta now, considering flying upper class next year with my miles.

No decent Duty Free Shop either at MCO.

So take your last few hours at your resort / villa then go for a light meal then airport . Get through security & then relax near your departure gate ........ less stress but boring .

It's very small. You'll get the usual main line drink and aftershave. But not much else!

We usually fly Aer Lingus business class to Orlando which means we use the United Airlines lounge in concourse B.
It's okay but certainly not something I would say was worth paying for, not been in the BA lounge for years which from memory was the American Airlines one.

The Delta lounge had a mouse problem when I was last there a few years ago, On telling the staff they were not surprised and said its been there for ages, decided to take my bags off the floor at that stage in case I took a furry friend home with me!

I know a few people used to camp out in the Hyatt hotel for a few hours before going through security. Only problem with that is you can never tell how long Security will take, I normally have a few beers at the Macaroni Grill then head through and have one last drink at the Outback, before I wobble on the plane and sleep off the booze :-)

We tend to minimise the airport time - arriving 2 hours before roughly. Once there we check the cases and then head to the food court and grab a bite to eat and then through security. That way we only have about 15 minutes before boarding to kill.

Count us in on that. For us, this is MCO's greatest gift. As much as we like to grab some last minute duty free, we'd rather camp out at the bar inside McCoy's or in the lobby lounge and go airside as late as possible. Far better than any airport lounge we've experienced.

Pre 2011 we used to eat at the Hyatt and go through as late as possible but the last few years I've always worried about how long security is going to take. Think I just need to stop worrying so much and leave less time at airport.
How long do you roughly leave yourselves to get through security and down to gate those of you that hang out before security?

We leave an hour fifteen for security too. Arrive at airport two hours before flight at the most. Check in, coffee and last shop, security, quick duty free then if the flight is on time you're just about off.

Thanks. Seems like that should be plenty of time to get airside so if we arrive earlier at the airport we will go hang out in the hyatt :thumbsup2
