Costa Rica: Costa Rica Coast to Coast Meets Thread

We've already booked ours! We added an extra day at the end (through ABD); I think my step-father is hoping to play golf. We're flying on United, although Southwest is supposed to be doing both routes by the time of the trip. We were really pleased that United let us price going in and out of different airports like a roundtrip.

That's neat that you're from Spring. There seem to be a fair number of people from the Houston area on these boards. We love Houston most of the year (the summer is just too hot), and we've been really pleased that DCL is sometimes sailing from Galveston. (Disney in some form gets a substantial percentage of our vacation time and money.)

We've booked ours too! Prices seemed to be pretty good so went ahead and booked. That last hotel looks nice. I'm sure y'all will love having the extra day there!

I know no one is keeping up with the roll call anymore but based on the old ones there have been a few posters that have gone recently. Does anybody have a trip report, photos or observations they want to share?

We just went in July! I can't get my act together with a TR, but if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to help! We had the BEST week!!!

I'm glad you had a great week! I am most curious about the last part of the trip that is new...the El Mangroove, the catamaran excursion, mojito making, etc. Thanks!

Hi Everyone! Looks like several of you are going with us March 12-18, 2016. There are 4 of us DH, DD - 17, DD turns 16 on the trip and myself. Can't wait for the trip 'cause its starting to get cold in Iowa!

Our family will be traveling on the August 6-12, 2016 Costa Rica Adventure. There are 4 us - DH (me), DW and 2 DD (Ages 11 & 8 at time of travel). We can't wait! Now to just figure out best airfare...

We are arriving a day early to San Jose. We arrive in the afternoon and have the entire next day free. Any ideas for activities or restaurants? Looking for something low key since my teens will want to sleep in when they can, and there will be enough adventure the rest of the week! We are also staying an extra night at El Mangroove at the end of the trip.

We are booked on the July 30th trip, which has been waitlisted. I called today and was told there are 36 on the trip, 15 of the 36 are kids. Most seem to be in the 14-16 y/o age range. The group we booked with has the youngest kids 2 DD's 11 and 1 DS 9.

@norestneeded...looking forward to meeting you! 4 of us traveling, DW (me), DH, DS (15), DD (12)...and we're coming from the Bay State as well.

We experienced the June trip. This was absolutely the best trip we've ever taken as a family. The guides are amazing. The lodging and experiences are top notch. We traveled with a 10 year old boy and a 15 year old girl and they both had a blast. As parents, we had a great time, too!

Hi! I was just wondering if some of you can recommend things to pack for this trip, specifically shoes and clothing. Did you wear rash guards or performance style shirts? Do we need sneakers with socks at all or do they just get wet? Is it better to just wear water shoes with good tread the whole trip? Also, I know for the turtle nesting viewing to wear dark clothing, but what about shoes? All of our sneakers & water shoes have white bottoms.
Did you bring your own binoculars?
Thanks!

Quick dry clothing is best - avoid cotton as it takes forever to dry. I stocked up on Nike dry-fit shirts and those were perfect. We pretty much lived in our Keens water shoes all week and those were great because they could get wet but were as sturdy as regular shoes. We didn't do the turtles at night so I can't help you there. We didn't take binoculars, and I can only think of a handful of times that they would have been nice to have. If you have them already, I'd say bring them, but don't buy some just for the trip.

We all had Keens shoes and they were perfect; we wore tennis shoes when we weren't in water. The slip on water shoes would not have been as good as the Keens. Be prepared with comfy shoes for lots of walking. DriFit shirts and shorts were great. We had 2 swimsuits each so we didn't have to put on wet suits. We were a June excursion, so we didn't view turtle nesting. Binoculars would have been great for our Tortuguero river boat tour. But, our guides had them and were willing to share. Best trip ever! Have fun!
