Dining with an Imagineer: Would you change your plans?

I was "window shopping" ADRs for my upcoming trip and was lucky enough to snag a reservation for DH and I for Dining with an Imagineer. The problem is that I would definitely have to rearrange my plans to go to this ADR (was an MK day). Also, we are taking this trip with my DFIL, DS6 and DS1. I need some advice - should I be selfish and adjust my plans? DH and I are headed back to WDW in November 2016. With all the changes occurring at HS would it be smart for me to do this now, just in case for some reason they don't have this anymore? I'm speculating, of course. What do you guys think?!

So, would you be sticking your FIL with the kids while you have lunch? As much as I'd give my right arm for that ADR ( I've tried unsuccessfully for several trips), I couldn't do that to my FIL. Maybe try again when you are on a couples only trip.

Yup - and that's another reason why I am likely going to let this ADR go. Though he wouldn't mind watching our boys my guilt factor would be sky high.

Just so you know, it is a difficult ADR to get so plan on booking it for 2016 as soon as it opens. DS been twice, DD once and once it was the hardest ADR for us to give up. DS said he would do it every single trip if he can find an ADR.

If your in-laws don't mind watching your kids for 2-3 hours, then I would keep the reservation. As PP's have said, it's a hard one to get, and, as you mentioned, who knows what will be happening at HS in the future. We did it on our trip in March, and it was a fantastic experience.

This is why it's so hard for me. I'm really on the fence with this one.

It'd only be my DFIL watching both my young boys. I know myself - I'd feel guilty the whole time I was at the lunch. It truly is that little voice telling me that I need to act now bc HS is a weird place right now. LOL. Ahhhhhh!!

Why don't you check with your FIL and see how he feels about watching the boys- since he is the one who needs to do this I would ask him how he feels about it. He may be fine or he may be uncomfortable.

I pulled up a reservation while "Window shopping" as well but had to give it up as it would've interfered with my flight home and there were no other flight options that worked. Still sad over it.

This :( I have been searching for one in November for months because my little brother just started college and wants to be an engineer. I was online right at 180 but still no dice!

You guys really bring up so many compelling points. I'll have a serious talk with my FIL... maybe even consider doing in room babysitting so that he doesn't have to worry about entertaining my kids for a long time. This ADR is a few hours, right?

Never give up especially if you are willing for him to do it alone. Singles pop up. DS actually had to cancel one in July just two days before because trip got cancelled. I would look right up until day before.

Thanks for the encouragement - i keep looking every day! He is a little shy so I do not think he would do well alone. But I guess I should still snag a solo if I can and hope for another one!

I think it was about 2 hours when we went but that does not include any travel time.
