Will they laugh at me?

On our last trip my DD got really into pin trading. Her brother was too little last time but they are both looking forward to it this time.

And to be honest... I kind of want to start collecting myself... Would I look like a giant dork if I wore a lanyard around with pins? Would cast members trade with me? I don't have anything specific in mind to collect- in fact I love too much Disney to narrow it down (though if I had to choose I'd probably pick Phineas and Ferb as they are my current obsession...) but I don't think I could.

It would just be for fun. Nothing serious. I totally see that I could get really into this and potentially go broke from it...

No one is going to laugh at you. Plenty of guests wear pin lanyards (I've also seen pin hats, pin vests, pin bags, etc.). It's very common to see people of all ages wearing and trading pins. Yes, most CMs will trade with you; the only exception are the CMs wearing teal colored lanyards. Those CM lanyards that are reserved for kids, but other than those, CMs will trade with adults and children.

Nope, I collected Dopey Pins. I had fun trading with the CM's.

I was a little weary at first, but I let my inner nerd out and went for it. It started with my DD wanting to do it, then my husband, and then I couldn't resist. It's a little addicting. I know there is the big "scrapper" debate, but a cheap way to get into it is to order some of the cheaper pins on ebay before your trip and then use those to trade. I still buy pins while there, but I don't like to trade those as much. The scrappers are fun to trade for other scrappers that I am interested in (ie favorite characters, or cute designs, or a set that I want to collect). It's really fun and an added level of excitement for your trip.
