"Does this ride have drops?" March 2015 TR *NEW* 1/17 COMPLETE - Final Thoughts

We decided instead that DH would go ride California Screamin’ while DS and I rode on the nearby King Triton’s Carousel. But within a couple minutes, DH had joined us on the Carousel because the line at Screamin’ was also on the long side.

Hey @DDuck4Life - next time - California Screamin' has a single rider line. It's at the exit to the ride.

Looks like Paxton had a great time in carsland. Did he end up riding RSR?? (Or am I getting too far ahead.)

I probably forgot to jot some info in my notes. Either the SR line was too long or was not being used. DH might chime in there. I know we have both used it in the past.

Getting ahead ;) I believe we picked up some FPs somewhere along the way for later.

Yeah, we've used it before, but I believe something was going on at that time. Memory is a little fuzzy but I think it was down or having issues so the line was getting long while waiting to come back on line and wasn't worth taking a chance on it being awhile. So a carousel ride it was! :rotfl2:

Haha posted at the same time. :rotfl:

Ahhh...you do seem like too shrewd DISers to not use the single rider line. It figures there was some explanation. (DW and I had the greatest Single rider experience ever at DCA, when we rode RSR 3 times in 30 minutes.

Enjoying your trip report. You did a fabulous job with your Italy/DLP trip report. Brought back memories of our visits to Florence, Pisa and Rome.It has been good to see your son in this report.

I am in the process in uploading photos for a trip report and am still deliberating whether to use Photobucket or Flickr. I noticed you use Flickr and just wanted to check how you have found using it.

Looking forward to hearing more about this trip.

Cars Land is just the best. Ahhh the Junkyard Jamboree. So fun! :)

Wait, Mater's Petting Zoo? Either we just completely missed that every time we were in Cars Land, or it doesn't exist anymore. Weird. Looks cute though!

I loved how you announced your pregnancy! I for one was very excited to see that pic on Instagram, haha.

Oooh I think I know where y'all headed next! Hahaha ;)

Following along! My son is the same age as yours and we were there just before you Feb 7-10. The castle was under a tarp for our trip so I am loving your awesome pics!!

Hi! I thought I replied here a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. I'm so far behind on the Dis that I don't even know what I'm doing.

Anyway, I'm here now. Trying to catch up and looking forward to following along. I did start reading this about 2 weeks ago though. I found it when I was looking back to find your mini-TR from Tennessee a few years ago. We went to Sevierville last week, and while we've been there several times, we were doing a few first time things that I knew you had done... Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. We had a great time and the information I got from your TR was helpful. :thumbsup2

Mater's is such a fun ride, BUT I wouldn't ride it while preggo - that thing does whip you around like crazy!! I am surprised they wouldn't have a sign on it, but you can't ride peter pan at DLP?!

Anyway...cute shots in the shop (and love that best brother piston cup announcement you guys made). Side note, I just saw your ticker and can't believe how soon baby will be here!!

I hope he got to ride screamin - there is a single rider line which is usually pretty good!! I found the line for TSMM to be pretty long every time we went there, but one morning RSR was down so we ran to TSMM instead and walked on.

:rotfl2:

I remember this! Perfect announcement! Did you end up getting him the trophy?

Love it! :rotfl:

Sounds like a good time in Cars Land. Love all the theming. And those hats are awesome too!

We actually didn't end up getting him the trophy, but we probably should have. He was not very excited about it, surprisingly! But I guess the distraction of all the toys in that shop will do it.

The hats were a lot of fun to try on, but totally impractical!! lol I can't imagine they sell many of those Cozy Cone or Flying Tire ones!

Yay I'm glad DS' first ride in Carsland was a success! He looks so happy in all the pics! Especially love the ones trying on the different hats :)

He was totally in heaven in Cars Land. A little boy's dream! That was part of the reason we kept the trip and especially Cars Land a surprise. It made it even better when he got to see it for the first time!

Glad DS enjoyed the tractor ride so much ... I can definitely see mine wanting to ride that a lot .... because, well, tractors!

bummer that some of the lines were long and you weren't getting on everything you wanted but a spin on a carousel is always fun

It's a really fun ride. I'm sure your little ones are going to be hooked like he was! I'll just say right now this is definitely not the last time you will see him on the Jamboree lol

The best thing about having so many days in Disneyland is that we totally didn't stress about lines being long. We knew we had so much time ahead of us that we would get to do everything we wanted and then some! Our first trip was only 3 full days, which we got a lot done in that time, but it was just nice knowing we had 5 full days total to enjoy everything as many times as we wanted.

Ahhh...you do seem like too shrewd DISers to not use the single rider line. It figures there was some explanation. (DW and I had the greatest Single rider experience ever at DCA, when we rode RSR 3 times in 30 minutes.

When we went on the trip in 2012 just DH and I, we used the heck out of every Single Rider line we came upon! I love that so many attractions at DL and DCA have them. It also came in handy this trip because I couldn't ride a lot of things so it cut down on the time DS and I were waiting around for DH to ride something.

Aww, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed that TR and that it brought back memories. I wanted it to be full of information so when I went back to look on it I would remember all those little moments and details of the trip that can get lost over time.

I used to use Photobucket but once they changed and put a cap on how much storage you had (that I found to be extremely low) I tried several different photo hosting sites before finding Flickr. I love it! So easy to navigate and offers TONS of storage! And the photos look great from there. It's the best free hosting site I have found in my searches, and it's so easy to keep everything organized.

The Jamboree is a ton of fun! I was a little bummed to miss out on it this time, especially with DS along. DH and I only rode it once on our anniversary trip that we took in 2012 just after Cars Land had opened and we loved it!

The petting zoo is literally just one little tractor off to the side of the queue entrance, nothing noteworthy. But of course DS spotted it and wanted to check it out!!

Thanks! I had tried to think of something cute involving the Castle but I didn't have a ton of free time before the trip to make or buy anything to bring with us. So it was just lucky that it worked out that way with the trophy, and appropriate considering the main reasons for the trip were to go somewhere I could handle while pregnant and getting DS to see Cars Land for the first time!

Following along! My son is the same age as yours and we were there just before you Feb 7-10. The castle was under a tarp for our trip so I am loving your awesome pics!!

Thanks for joining in!!

Oh man, what a bummer about the castle being under a tarp. We thought it would be for our trip too, and with all of the other stuff down for refurbishment, that was definitely another disappointment. So it was a pleasant surprise that at least the tarp was down by the time our trip came even though we missed out on a lot of our other favorites, especially World of Color!

No worries, I find I have some weeks where it's easy for me to keep up and some weeks where I struggle. I just have too many DIS friends with reports going to keep up!! Not a bad problem to have :)

So glad my mini-TR was a help in your trip planning! We are itching to go back to TN because we had such a fun time there. Probably once the baby is a little older and around the age DS was when we went the first time would be a good time to go.

I didn't realize Peter Pan at DLP had a pregnancy warning! That's crazy, I don't remember it being any different from the US versions, which are totally okay while pregnant. I think some parks are way overly cautious though. When we were in Legoland almost every ride had a pregnancy warning, and there were only a couple I could understand why. Most seemed perfectly okay.

It will be SO SOON! We are hoping for her to stay put until the end of this week so that our WDW trip is covered by my maternity leave (somehow I totally botched the planning of that and gave myself a VERY narrow window for her to come early!!). But if she doesn't come on her own this weekend, I am scheduled for an induction on Monday the 3rd!!

I must have missed some info in my notes about the SR line. Either it wasn't in use or it was too long itself. We did find that Screamin' was the one that was usually hit or miss with the SR line being open. We had 4.5 more days so he wasn't worried about missing out on it that day!! It was probably good it didn't because I doubt whipping around on that thing with the rain starting up would have been much fun!!!

The number of Disneyland Paris rides that pregnant people MAY NOT ride is absolutely ridiculous. So much so that even at 27 weeks preggo by then, I've already set aside outfits that are doing a good job hiding my belly. I'm not trying to get on Big Thunder or anything like that of course, but Peter Pan, Ratatouille, Pirates and the list goes on, I don't want to miss. There are a list of maybe 6 rides TOTAL that I am allowed to ride. And IaSW will be closed, so make that 5 LOL.

Oh no!! On the maternity leave!! I hadn't even really thought about that. I guess if baby comes at 36 or 37 weeks for me then that'd cut into my leave too for our trip, whoops. I hope it works out for you and you don't run into that issue!!

The monorail instant attraction. Dev says its his favorite ride so why d I even bother buying park tickets?? Cars land looks so much fun. One day we will get there! the petting zoo was too cute!

That's good to hear that you have enjoyed using Flickr. I have opted for Flickr for my trip report and so far have found it easy to use.
Wishing you well for the birth. I had to be induced with Peter as he wasn't too bothered about arriving of his own accord.

Peter Pan and Pirates for sure. They are no different than the U.S. counterparts. Ratatouille does move pretty quick but it's definitely less rough than Mater's Jamboree for sure. I guess the French are a lot more overly cautious??

I know, I thought I had given myself a much bigger cushion but when I looked again recently I freaked! Paxton came at 37.5 weeks, and had she done the same, we would have had to move the trip. We have had a countdown going of how many days she needs to stay put to have the trip covered. lol I'm down to just 3 now!! As it is though I will likely be going back to work the day after we get home. Totally going to such but at least the trip will be okay.

lol So true! I could actually see Paxton enjoying an entire week of Disney transportation without ever going into the parks. Between the monorail, boats, and buses he would be totally entertained.

Thanks so much! I'm hoping I will go into labor on my own at the end of this week or over the weekend. I'm going to try all the things I find online to help move it along! lol If not, I am scheduled for an elective induction on Monday the 3rd when I make 39 weeks. I don't really want to go that route, but with DS starting his first year of school I don't want to miss anything so this will give me a few days to recover after and be ready for everything with him. Having a new baby in the house is going to be a big enough adjustment, I don't want him to feel like mommy is missing all his new big boy stuff too!

It's so hard not being able to have control of the timing. They had suggested that I could have an elective c-section and when I was overdue I was trying to remember why I had said no I want a natural delivery. I tried suggestions to bring on labour but never did develop a liking for raspberry tea! My experience has been that this age gap between children has worked well. You will soon be back in the swing of having a baby in the house. Is Paxton looking forward to starting school?

Just finished reading all your updates and am all caught up now!

Good advice on not letting the kid be the tour guide until the very end of the trip. I can see how that might cause a problem after Day 1.

Autopia looks so much cooler than the Tomorrowland Speedway. I don't know why, but it just does.

No attractions in Adventureland? That had to be hard!

I couldn't help but laugh at the story of the girl who stayed in her Dumbo for an extra ride. I definitely don't condone that kind of stuff, but I'm impressed she got away with it.

Paxton had never been to Carsland before? I guess since I knew you'd been there I just forgot that Paxton wasn't with you that time. I remember from all your past TRs how big a fan of Cars he is, so that had to be so awesome for him to experience. I loved how he had to stop at everything when he came across it. Had to take it all in!

So many DISers have been going to DL lately that I'm very quickly becoming a DL fan. You all are making me wish I could plan a trip out there myself!

Ok, finally got time to read through everything and comment...

“Seriously? You couldn’t give me the directions 10 seconds ago, but now you know where the Jack-In-The-Box is?” :rotfl:
If it wasn't already clear that you were pregnant for this trip... :lmao:

DH found a Little Caesar’s around the block. He is a sucker for Hot ‘n Ready pizzas! He went out and picked up some pizza and Crazy Bread for dinner
Um... You didn't get Italian Cheese Bread??? That's the best thing on the menu!!!!!

You’d think they would be familiar with that before doling out advice to park guests!
Um... well, it pretty much meets my expectation of the front line Disneyland CM's. :rotfl:

Since it was our first of 5 days and we felt confident we would be able to accomplish everything, we decided to let DS be our guide that day and do things at his pace. I will just let you know now, this was a TERRIBLE idea! Not a bad idea on the last day, maybe, but on the first day it gave him a sense that for the entire vacation we would only do what he wanted to when he wanted to do it.
Uh oh... good theory, but I'm sorry it came back to bite you!

Before I jump back to where I left off heading across the park, I got a few pictures from DH off his phone of their ride around the track on Autopia.
Clearly, he has a good eye. Good pictures even on a phone. I noticed the mouse crossing signs, but I never even noticed the mouse hole tunnels.

It all would have worked out perfectly if some little girl had not hidden in the elephant in front of the one DS chose to sneak onto a second ride without having to wait in line!
Well played, little girl. Well played!

I can never say it enough, park hopping at DL is a breeze compared to WDW! And so much more convenient with little kids in strollers.
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

We told DS where we were headed, and I think he was a little excited to see Radiator Springs!
He certainly looks excited!

Trying to tip the tractor over by making a loud noise lol
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

They both seemed to really enjoy the ride, especially DS who came off yelling that those tractors were outta control! His first ride in Cars Land was a definite success.
:thumbsup2 That really is a fun ride! I'm glad he liked it.

But we did come across a great photo op to announce on Facebook that we were expecting!
That's a great picture! Good idea. :thumbsup2

You gotta love the Disney Details!! and it was tough work taking pictures while getting thrown around the car by a 4 year old driver who kept letting of of the steering wheel saying he doesn't know what he's doing. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: not that those steering wheels do much anyway.

Loving your report so far! Disneyland is definitely on our list, may need to get a trip out there right before baby turns 2, so we can take advantage of the last free flight before we have to pay for 4 flight lol. The whole idea of handing over the power makes me chuckle, because I know Zavier would have the same exact reaction Paxton did. It seems if we let him do something one time, that is now the golden rule. :)

I love the idea of uncovered tea cups, I don't know why it appeals to me so much to me but it just sounds so cool. I think that is what I would enjoy most about visiting Disneyland is just experiencing all the little differences and seeing all the theming there as well. Ya, park hopping looks effortless there, I could get used to that. We haven't park hopped since we had Zavier just because it seems like more effort than we would want, especially since we are normally onsite and would be relying on buses.

I think I will have the same expression when I get to see Radiator Springs for the same time. It is reactions like that, that make an entire trip worth it. (and also make me want to pull out the credit card and get a trip booked haha) I love the brother announcement...very cute.

Hope you are doing well, your little girl will be here any minute.

Now that we had made it to the ultimate destination in DS’s mind, we were ready to explore Cars Land! He was truly in awe as we strolled down the street further into Radiator Springs. It was so incredible to see the look in his eyes as his favorite movie unfolded before him.

What a great moment! It seems like such a well themed area. What a perfect place for a preschool boy!

Love this picture - so cute!

How funny! It seems like a really fun ride. And I loved the pictures from the queue - especially all of the signs from Mater's Tall Tales. The boys love those!

Great family selfie!
