My husband and I will be going to Disney without our kids in Jan 2016. Which deluxe resort is best for an adults only trip? We will be staying at the Bay Lake Towers WITH our kids in Sept 2015 and are not opposed to staying at Contemporary again but wouldn't mind trying something new.

I haven't stayed at all the deluxe resorts but as a DVC owner I've stayed at quite a few and one of my goals is to stay at all the deluxe resorts. From your post it appears your trip will be to WDW and prefer not to stay at BLT so I would recommend the following deluxe resorts in this order Animal Kingdom, Beach Club, Boardwalk with Old Key West being last. The only deluxe resorts I haven't stayed in are Poly, Grand Floridian, Saratoga and Wilderness so I cannot recommend those but the Grand Floridian and Poly look amazing. I will be staying at Saratoga and Wilderness this year so I'll get those done.

While we haven't stayed there yet, my wife and I are going for our 2nd Anniversary this year and we are staying at AKL - Kidani Village. After doing a lot of research, it seems that AKL (either one) is one of the best deluxe resorts for an adults only trip. The architecture is supposed to be amazing and from everything I've read, there are fewer families than other resorts so it can be more romantic. But, we also considered the Grand Floridian and Polynesian (but we were renting DVC points and they weren't available by the time we bit the bullet and rented). I don't think you could go wrong with AKL, CR, GF, the Poly, or even WL (as I've heard and read it's AMAZING).

We really liked the Beach Club, but I think Yacht is better for adults only trip. I would love to stay at the Poly someday! We'll be staying at Kidani next month, so I'll know soon enough if it can be more romantic! :D

maybe change your trip to Oct and stay at an Epcot resort and enjoy the wine & food festivals.

I've stayed at all of them other than WL and Saratoga Springs, it's really according to what your goals are. Do you enjoy Epcot? If so, either BW or YC are great, just a hop skip and jump away. I prefer YC over BW but that's just personal. If you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the parks and want to do a lot of exploring and hanging around the resort, AKL is great. If you want understated elegance, you can't beat the GF, it's beautiful. The Poly and BC seem more kid friendly to me, I like them both but they do seem to have more kids running around. OKW is o.k. if you want the laid back home feeling type resort, it's the oldest DVC resort and is showing it's age a little, but the rooms are huge, the grounds pretty and very relaxing, it would be my last pick but just because I'm not fond of buses.

Thanks for your replies! Changing my Sept reservation is not an option as flights are booked, vacation time has been requested, etc. My favorite park is MK but we love all the parks. When we stayed at Beach Club and Boardwalk we LOVED being able to walk to Epcot and HS so after further research I am thinking about booking at the Yacht Club. I'm just a little worried though because I read on another site it's geared for older couples. My husband and I in our early 30's but are by no means party animals but still don't want to feel like weird haha

I wouldn't say Yacht is for the geriatric population, so I don't think you'll stick out like a sore thumb. :D

then would go with BC - but yes the pool (which it does share with the YC) does attract alot of children

you are going to BLT in Sept - so would definitely try something different - but blt makes going and getting back so easy from the MK - really think you will miss that.

BC is around a 5 minute walk to Epcot - just remember to take the short cut - under the bridge instead of over it.

If your favorite park is MK then my vote is for GF. If money is an issue then you can try and rent points to keep the cost down. I stayed there on my honeymoon and it was unbelievable. You get on the monorail and you are at MK in about 5 minutes. The service, in my experience, is exceptional.

LOL I'm in my early thirties, and YC is one of my favorite places on property :D It's gorgeous, has a fantastic location, and isn't swarming with kids like BC next door. Back in 2012 when I stayed there, Travel + Leisure actually put YC on their top 100 resorts in the entire world...the only Disney hotel to make the list :)
