Just got back from a 1 week stay at the Grand during star wars weekends. This is my 3rd time staying at the grand. Polynesian and the Grand are my favorite resorts but after this trip I think the Grand has pulled ahead. Im going to just throw some random thoughts and expiriences here:

-Beds were soooo comfortable

-Pool was open until 11 but they said you can swim after that as log as you aren't loud

-ordered water from staples and wasn't charged any fees by the Grand for delivering there and it was free shipping, going to do this from now on

-the resort expirince was the highlight of the trip, so relaxing!

-décor, theming, convinience were all perfect!

-pool view room was beautiful and looked amazing with the blue water contrasting with the white buildings.
(Pic of view below)
-ordered room service a few times at 2 am, food is alllll great with the pasta being my fave (pic of the chicken dish below)

-hdmi is available on room tv for connecting so your bluray players and videogame systems will connect easily
-turndown service with chocolates and goodnight card everynight in our room was such a nice touch(see pic below)
-star wars weekends was ammaaazing especially the darth vadar peanut butter chocolate cupcake and the fireworks, best ive ever seen!! (you will love it even if you hate star wars)
-went broke buying star wars and trader sams things but i love em! (Pic below)
-even though people say disneylands fantasmic is better, I enjoyed it even more perhapsbecause I go to Disneyland all the time and the Hollywood studios version was fresh, I wish I would've seen it before

-nemo show at animal kigdom is amazing!!!

-trader sams was awesome and beautiful, highly recommended.

-I stayed at universal after Disney and that was the right move, didn't miss the magic like I thought, this was better then starting with universal (make sure you stay 2 nights, not 1, that's too short to enjoy hotel change)

-if you like the Polynesian resort don't think you will like royal pacific, it was a letdown, Portofino theming and rooms are waaay better and worth the extra money each night.

as of now my Orlando hotel rankings are:

Grand

Polynesian

Portofino bay (universal)

Wilderness lodge

royal pacific (universal)

Port orleans riverside royal rooms

Art of animation

here are a few pics from the trip:

Thanks for the lovely pictures Hairy chest.

My dh and I stayed at the GF a long time ago and unfortunately it didn't turn out well (long story) and I want to go back but he refused. LOL
I love the resort and am dying to try it again.

I enjoyed reading your report. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the report and highlights of the Resort. I have never stayed at the Grand Floridian, but it is surely a beautiful resort. My favorite place that I have ever stayed at is The Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks for the review. We stayed there last year for the second time and just love it there.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Your pics are amazing!

Holidays at the grand are sooooo amazing and magical you are going to have the greatest time!

Your welcome everyone!

Just got back from a 1 week stay at the Grand during star wars weekends. This is my 3rd time staying at the grand. Polynesian and the Grand are my favorite resorts but after this trip I think the Grand has pulled ahead.

Thanks for your review, glad you had another great stay at the GF :wizard:.

Love the pics, thanks for sharing. I agree about the beds, very comfortable :cloud9:. We have never had a bad nights sleep at any resort we've stayed at, but I have found the GF (and Poly) to be the most comfortable.

Booked there for the first time for Dec 2015... I can't wait!

The GF is amazing (especially during the holidays), you're going to love it :goodvibes.

The GF is my favorite resort. Glad you had a great time. Your photos are beautiful.

That chicken dish looks awesome. I am salivating. The Grand is the best!

Thanks for the report! We stayed at the GF last year for the first time and we loved it. We usually stay at the Poly but didn't want to deal with the construction and it was such a treat to experience the GF.

One of my DH's favorite parts of the trip was sitting in the lobby listening to the band. Then we grabbed drinks (and a cigar for DH) at Mitzner's and sat out on the balcony that had pretty much the view in your first picture.

That chicken dish? DEEEE-LISH! I've had it a few times before at the Grand Floridian Cafe. They used to call it "airplane chicken" because of the shape of the chicken. Do they still call it that?

We are heading back to Disney in August but are staying at the Poly again. We will definitely be walking over to the GF and spending some time there!

So glad to hear the positive things about staying at Christmas... I was on the fence between GF, and BWV... GF is a bit more $, but I thought since we're FINALLY going for Christmas I would splurge to make it extra special.

Great review- fun to read. I've never stayed there but one day ... :-) Nice to live vicariously through your report! Thanks for sharing.

You had some Trader Sam's swag....(I will have that pin :P)........did you visit there? If so.......what did you think? Did you wait long to get in?

Doug :goofy:

Thanks for the great review!!! We keep saying that 2016 is the year we will finally stay at the Poly, but I'm questioning that after this review...the grand seems soooo GRAND!

Oh hairy chest I still remember you as the first to post pics of poly when the rooms were remodeled !! I still rank Poly1, gf2, cr3!! However as a family BLT and VGF , VGF 1and BLT 2!!

Loved the review and pix !!

I'll be back to gf with dd20 in August!!!

Glad you enjoyed Star Wars ! I did that last year yet dd wasn't into it:(

I love the Star Wars cupcakes :)

Trader sams was awsome! We went after the parks at 11 and 1130 so there was no wait. They were sold out of the nautulus mugs the whole time and i wanted one so bad! Just means ill have to make another trip haha.

I was in big pine key which is now my favorite for the pool view
