I'll Call Steve: A Wilderprincess PTR! (Aug 2015) *COMPLETED*

I LOVE the idea of trying to meet all of the princesses in one day. That's really cute and you'll get some great pictures out of that. The shirts are also super cute (especially the Toy Story one ;)). I'll be sure to catch up on Pinterest.

Thank you! It's one of those things where a bunch of my friends on twitter have always spoken about doing it, but we never have the time, etc. so now that I've got the time this trip I've decided to set forth and try to accomplish it!

Awww, thanks to both the shirts and pinterest comments. Love ya molly!

Ok, so I just found a new shop on Etsy called MickeyWaffles. She makes character/resort/etc themed hair bows...she has a Newsies bow. I thought of you, lol!!

Love your new shirts, btw!!

Awwww, thank you for thinking of me :D

MickeyWaffles is one of the finest shops on Etsy, imo ;) if you refer back to a post from my first PTR, here, I bought a few bows for my 2014 trip! Gaston really liked the one that looked like him. The seller was incredibly nice and personable. I really recommend her stuff!

Thank youuuu! I wore the Buzz Lightyear one today! I got a little bit of Lo Mein on it, but it's still good :rotfl:

A Delay in the Action
77 Days Out

Hello again!

For the people following this PTR and realizing that I haven't updated this in a while, you're probably wondering what the hold up is. AND HERE IT IS!

Basically, my mom confessed to me last week that she wants to have a romantic dinner with dad (d'aww!) in France this year. This means that our dinner at Cape May Cafe will have to be canceled and GRACE AND I GET A SISTER DAY!!! :dumbo::dumbo::dumbo:

This would mean many, many things. First of all, we have to call Disney next Thursday. Why? Because
MAY 21ST IS MY 18TH BIRTHDAY ( :tigger: ) and the Disney MDE app still recognizes me as a 16 year old. I can't make a dining reservation for Grace and I until I'm 18, and I doubt the app is going to recognize me as an 18 year old since they still think I'm 16.

This also means that the plans for Grace and I need to be switched around. We're going to be pretty magic-kingdom'ed out for the trip, but I still think it would be perfect for a sister bonding day, so we'll probably wind up there anyway. Especially if we can get a table at Be Our Guest like I want us to get! If we don't get a table at BoG, I'll probably see if we can get a table somewhere in Epcot anyway. I'm thinking... go to Epcot from the Tea Room, have an early-ish dinner and then take the monorail to MK to close out the evening.

So what this this mean for the PTR? It means... well, since this is supposed to happen on the next day of the trip, we're going to have to do a bit of waiting before I can update this PTR with plans. So unless something happens un-related to the plans, I can't really move forward on the PTR. So this is pretty much me right now.

giphy.gif

This gif just, like, speaks to me, you know?
So just hang in there! I promise I'll be posting again soon. I'm supposed to see a Broadway show next week, so I'll even throw in a little review of that in the mix ;)

To those of you still reading this PTR- you're all fabulous and I love you! Have wonderful days! :tinker:

My Little Mermaid Birthday Party!
71 days out

So, yesterday I turned 18 years old. :cool1:

And as I predicted, MDE still doesn't recognize my being an adult. I'm not sure why this system doesn't recognize that I'm 18, but this means I'm going to have to call them today if I want to make a BoG FP+ or dinner ressies for Grace and I.

#annoyed
However... let's rewind a little bit, because YESTERDAY WAS MY 18TH BIRTHDAY!!!

On Tuesday, we went to Party City to pick up some party supplies. This was the outcome:

IMG_4259_zps3wcn5oyb.jpg

Everything is Ariel and nothing hurts!
I told my mom I wanted friends over for my 18th birthday just for some pizza and maybe a movie, and requested that we went to Party City to pick up the paper goods like plates/napkins/etc.

Yesterday was a pretty fabulous birthday. My dad woke me up with a cinnamon bun breakfast, then took me to get a Frappuccino, then I went to school. My friend/prom date even treated me to a lunch at Wendy's (shout out to our school's Senior Open Campus lunch policy).

IMG_4272_zpsmiipnsft.jpg

it's my birthday (and I'll wear an Ariel tiara and princess button to school if I want to)

And then I had study hall last, which means I got to go home early and decorate!

... to FAB!

my sister handed me this in shop-rite two days ago and we rolled with it

IMG_4271_zps2nswo8ap.jpg

the soundless noisemakers completed the setup
The guests started arriving at 6:30. We had pizza, focaccia bread, and mozzarella sticks. That lasted about 15 minutes before I decided to take my guests on an impromptu safari to a nearby park.

We had a blast! We sang the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song all the way to the park and then played on the swings and then recounted all the good times we've had.

IMG_4278_zpspnl7lsj5.jpg

We were taking photos like Abercrombie and Fitch models.
Then, when our safari was over, we went back to the house and had cake. We finished the night by watching Coraline. The last guests left by 11:30, then I went straight to sleep :faint:

It looks like this is going to be the first of some updates soon! Firstly, I'll have to keep you in the loop about calling Disney. Secondly, I'm seeing GIGI on Broadway on Sunday! So I'll need to tell you all about that, too.

Happy birthday to me! party:

IMG_4282_zpsrsregmfn.jpg

You ever go to a supermarket bakery and look at one of those books with all the themed character cakes and think, "do people even order these?"

PS: My friends surprised me with THIS LITTLE GUY!!!!

I love your Little Mermaid birthday stuff!!! Happy birthday to you!! party:party:

I had Sophia the First cupcakes for my birthday party with my Odyssey of the Mind kids...and I still want a Snow White party, LOL!!

Thank you so much!!!!

Nice!!! And I say GO FOR IT!!! It's the one day of the year just for you!!!

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted on your PTR. Sorry about that Kaitlyn, but I'm all caught up now! :D

HAPPY (BELATED) BIRTHDAY BTW!!! (YAY FOR MAY BIRTHDAYS!!) Those party decorations are on-point. I wish my 18th birthday (and subsequently my 19th birthday) was as exciting and glamorous! :) Yay for seeing Gigi! I can't wait to hear your review (and hopefully see some photos with Corey, Vanessa and Victoria ::yes:: )!

Looks like you're really preparing well for your trip! I love the Celebrate buttons you got! It seems like those are the new things to get rather than the free ones in Disney. And I LOOOOVVEEE your idea to meet all princesses in one day. That's going to be one crazy, fun, exhausting and ultimately rewarding day! :thumbsup2

Hope you get that age situation with your Disney account fixed soon so you can update us on your new itinerary! :teeth:

P.S. Listening to my Broadway playlist because your musical references gave me a hankering for some showtunes :goodvibes

Welcome back!!!! Glad you're caught up!!!

THANK YOU!!!! Hahahaha it was a fun day!!! And we didn't meet anyone that day. We saw the 2 o'clock show and they don't come out after the matinee. They just give backstage tours to certain groups and then chill in their dressing rooms until the 7:30. We could have stayed to meet them after the 7:30 but we would have gotten home super late and we didn't want to do that since we were both doing things for our town's memorial day parade this morning.

Thank you!! I love my celebration buttons!!!! And it's gonna be a taxing day for sure, but if everything goes my way, I'll go down in history. Probably. Maybe.

I did eventually get it fixed- which is why I came here, to tell you all about my plans for the next day! #movingforward

YAAAAS MUSICAL REFERENCES!!!

Gigi Review/My New "Baby"
68 days out

As promised- I got tickets to Gigi for my birthday, and I want to share that story with you all!

My friend Molly went in to the city to see it with me. We got some Starbucks, got on the 10:42 train and off we went!!!

We arrived at Penn Station at around 11:30 and had some lunch at the Nathan's hot dogs stand then went outside.

my very first panorama photo!!!
So we had time to kill and decided to play around at the pop-up Tony Awards shop.

AEFA5CAA-DC21-4A00-A17A-86BD7F35D5DA_zpsytbmvvxh.jpg

sissy that walk
But eventually we had to leave and go to the show. We bought our tickets through TodayTix. TodayTix is a third party, totally safe and secure app and a great way to buy tickets for cheap a week in advance before your show. You get to choose which block of tickets/type of seats you want, but not your exact seats. What that means is that we essentially knew where we were sitting (side orchestra) but we didn't know where we were sitting. We met the TodayTix broker and opened the envelope...

and we were blessed with third row seats. :scared1::faint:

Molly and I were basically crying over seeing Vanessa Hudgens and Corey Cott as close as we were going to see them and then we were let in to the theater.

THIS WAS SOOOOO PRETTY OH MY GOODNESS

One thing that surprised me about Gigi is that the employees were totally lenient on people taking photos in front of the stage. Flashes were going off everywhere and the employees weren't saying anything about it. Hmm. That seemed odd, usually they're all over that. They were strict about cell phones during the show though.

The show was amazing!!! Vanessa Hudgens came running out as Gigi and my face was LITERALLY the real-life version of the ":hyper:" emoticon. She was so good. She was adorable and talented and she sang well and she was pretty and ahfhgasdfajshdfkljaksdjfhakjsdfh. Corey Cott, as usual, was fantastic. Those of you who saw him in Newsies- I'm happy to report that his role is basically Jack Kelly 2.0. There's an older character in the show- an uncle- who he speaks to quite frequently and when he does, all you can hear is Jack Kelly and Pulitzer ;)

The costumes were great, the music was beautiful, the dancing was terrific, the set was lovely. If I have one complaint about Gigi it's that the show ran a little long. The plot seemed to falter a little bit during the second act, and the ending was abrupt. It definitely got snubbed for Tony nominations, though. Vanessa's performance was amazing and should have been a contender for best actress in a musical.

So when that was all done, we went out to Gigi stagedoor.

Where dreams are either fulfilled or shattered
... Unfortunately, 15 minutes into our stagedoor experience, we were told that the actors don't come out following the matinee. So Molly and I ran to Matilda in hopes of meeting another favorite actor of ours, Ryan Steele.

452F68DA-5C6F-4E6E-B5F6-457C033E10A3_zps4hybzm7t.jpg

Shubert Stagedoor is so cute and quaint
... Ryan didn't come out, either. We were standing at Matilda stagedoor for well over an hour before we realized he probably was not coming out today. We did get a photo with another very sweet actor though!

DAF4BAD9-C832-4506-BE75-BF020FECEE03_zps6yoq21bi.jpg

Clay!!!
Clay is the sweetest boy I know. He was in Newsies on Broadway for a while, he was Spot Conlon while Tommy Bracco was on medical leave (I think?) or something like that.

So after an hour of Matilda stagedoor, we ran over to the Gershwin, desperate to meet some other people in our quest to play an awesome game of stagedoor tag.

Unlimited....

73AB3ABE-4351-48F5-8983-02FC8BC22B84_zpsuwizhrmk.jpg

My future is UNLIMITED!!!!

... and we met NOBODY at the Wicked stagedoor. Whomp-whomp. They had all left by the time we got out and we weren't informed of this until 30 minutes later when the last two cast members (who we didn't know) came out and were all, "we think we're the last two people to come out just so you guys know!". It turns out that we had missed everyone and didn't even realize it. :confused3

So we decided to conclude our high-energy game of stagedoor tag and go find somewhere to eat. Ellen's Stardust Diner was loaded, everywhere on Times Square was loaded, but we took a pit stop at the Disney store!!!

F195F6B0-AA84-4318-9B23-AF39B6623044_zpspwg81mfe.jpg

Tomorrow night, the lights will appear...
I was thirsty, tired, and hungry and my legs hurt so I was definitely not in the mood for buying anything. We pretty much walked in and then walked out. It's a pretty Disney store, though!

I was literally determined to salvage the day so we cut out of times square and ate lunch at some diner. I got chocolate chip pancakes. Then I called my parents to see if they could pick us up and we waited for them at Schnippers (the restaurant down the street from the Nederlander where Newsies used to play).

So it was an exhausting day, and it kind of flopped after our terrific performance of Gigi, but hey, what can you do? I'm still super glad I hung out in the city and saw the perfect show with my best friend.

You're probably looking at my photos and thinking "WOAH!!!!!!! Kaitlyn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are some ridiculously cool and high-quality photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did you do it????????????????????????"

My phone got upgraded this Sunday!!!! Yay!!!!

Out with the old, in with the new.
I made a big jump- from the iPhone 4 to the 6! I'm absolutely smitten with it and all of the stuff I can do with it that I couldn't do with the 4. The photo quality is ridiculously better. Which means you'll get better, high quality photos of my endeavors at Disney World! :cool1:

Okay. So this was part one of what I hope will be a two-part update. When I come home from Dairy Queen, you'll get to hear about the rest of my Walt Disney World plans. I have a lot more to explain, believe it or not!

DHS/MK Day #6
Still 68 days out

I believe I offered you plans for the day before my family got ice cream?

Anyway, we eventually got my stuff sorted out on the MDE website. Turns out I just had to create a new MDE account for myself and link it up with my mother's. Crazy! And guess what? I was able to get a lunch FP+ for BoG in the process!!! Yay!!! :cool1:

That also means I was able to make some ressies for Grace and I... sister play date time!!! :teeth:

Early in the morning-ish
Wake up and get some breakfast

After breakfast
go to DHS (I feel like I always just never have time to play at DHS? I'll probably wind up either here or at Epcot depending on the mood)

No later than 1:00 PM
Get ready to head over to the Grand Floridian

2:05 PM tea time ADR at the Grand Floridian Tea Room
Yaaaaaaas, finally!!!

3:30-ish?
Grace and I go to Magic Kingdom while mom does her own thing

3:30 onward
Grace and I play at the Magic Kingdom!!!!
Grace and I are going to be spending a lot of time here. Like, 4 and a half hours. She's worried about being in the heat for this long, but I assured her I'd bring her into all of the air conditioned shows and FP+ all of the outdoor queues for us, and just take it very easy in general.

Possible things we'll be doing:

  • Go on a quest to find Peter Pan!!!
  • Peter Pan's flight
  • Meet Tinkerbell
  • Meet Talking Mickey
  • Carousel of Progress
  • Hall of Presidents
  • Country Bear Jamboree
  • Anna and Elsa if I can't get a FP+ for the day before
  • Haunted Mansion
  • FP+ 7DMT
  • Get a snack in New Fantasyland
  • Meet gaston
  • Meet a bunch of princesses
(6:00 PM dinner ADR for my parents at Chefs de France)

8:05 PM Dinner ADR at Chef Mickeys
Grace loooooves Chef Mickeys so I wanted to include it on this trip. Dinner isn't the best here, but it makes her happy!

After dinner
Probably go back to the resort and wind down

Sounds like Gigi was awesome! It definitely sounded like of the actresses snubbed in the leading category, Vanessa was the biggest. So sad, but at least she's making a name for herself again. I'm sorry to hear you didn't get to meet her or any actors. Those matinees... :P

That stinks your stage door tag didn't amount to much (so sad you missed Kara Lindsay at the Gershwin door), but isn't Ryan Steele no longer in Matilda? I thought he left forever ago. Did he come back? If so, I REALLY need to go see it now. ::yes:: But yay for meeting Clay! He's so cute and looks like a sweetheart. I really need to get on that stage door life when I go see tours. So angry I missed meeting the Toursies, but now I know to do it on the tours and not just in NYC.

Yay for the new iPhone and checking out the Disney Store in Times Square! Love my new iPhone 6, minus the fact that I really needed the 64 GB one instead of the 16 because I use up that memory quick. Cannot wait to see how it works for you in WDW!

So glad to hear you were able to fix your MDE problems and got a BOG Lunch FP+! BOG is the actual best.

Looks like you some good plans in place! I really think you should make a point to go to DHS on this day if you feel you're not giving it a lot of love. It's better to have definitive plans like that than be spontaneous, even if that isn't the majority of your day, but it gives you some leeway to make up for lost time IMO

Can't wait to hear about more of your plans! :mickeyjum

#SNUBBED. Tony awards how could you. And it's okay, we're going to go back into the city one day just to meet everyone again. LMAO!

Yeah it was't great but we had fun running around NYC. And YES he's temporarily back as Rudolpho while the current actor is on medical leave!!!! He did leave like ages ago but they invited him back just to cover a medical absence and Lesli Margherita tweeted something like "Sometimes when actors go on medical leave, other actors take their place for a while. Better check that slip of paper in your playbill tonight. The pape." and we immediately knew. He apparently has not stagedoored at all since he got back though.

Yay!!!! I'm literally in love with the 6 I can not wait for Disney with it because it's going to make my life so much easier

Thank you!!! Agreed BOG is amazing.

I'm probably going to be going to DHS this day. What happened last year was that I went and was there for the whole day and didn't come back because at that point I was like "mehhh im sick of this", but looking back there's so much I haven't done there that I'd like to do. Agree, advanced planning is the key to WDW success.

You will soon!!! :simba:

FP+ day is a fun day! I don't think you'll have ANY problems at all getting what you want.

My only advice for making them is to do your Thursday first, and make Anna and Elsa right away. Everything else on your list should have wide open availability. Maybe try your SDMT day (since it's early in the trip) and Wishes days next, just to be on the safe side. I've never had any issue getting exactly what we wanted when making FPs, but it doesn't hurt to err on the side of caution when trying for A&E especially!

And if I had any other advice, it would be to keep an eye out on Ariel's Grotto while you're in the parks, you might not even need a FP for Ariel. We walked in early in the morning with very little wait (less than 10 minutes, and it was only that long because she took a good amount of time with each guest), and the evening hours the lines were pretty short, 20 minutes-ish. So if you notice a short line, you can change your FP for her to something else. (But she did have a peak in her line around 10:30 - 11ish where the line was over 30 minutes). We were there for similar dates last year that you're going this year, so this will only be helpful if historical data is any indicator.

We tour MK differently, getting the bulk of our riding done in the morning/early afternoon and then making extra FPs for the evening at the kiosks, mainly because my kids like to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom when we're at MK in the evening (which I hate because it takes 10,000 years), but your later FPs are appealing to me and could give the whole day a more relaxed vibe.

Thank you for all your awesome advice!

You know, come to think of it, I didn't have any problems making FP+ for my last trip either. But, hey- knock on wood, right? Anna and Elsa first with SDMT and Wishes next is the perfect plan of attack.

You're probably right about Ariel. I just want all of my FP+ to be princess M&G related since I'm gonna be on a bit of a time crunch that day, yanno? I think the longest I waited for her when I went in July (and I met her 4 times in the grotto... whoops!) was 20 minutes, but if we can bump it down even from 10 minutes to 2 minutes, we're on a roll for the day.

(UPDATE: Even when typing this response to you I knew something was "fishy" about putting down the Ariel FP+. You're right and I was wrong. I meant to do Enchanted Tales with Belle instead. So, thank you for your advice- you reminded me of what I really wanted instead! I'll go change that now ;) )

Ideally, that would be my plan of attack. Do all your FP+ in the morning and you can make more if you run out in the evening. But you see, it caused problems with my family. My mom is a night owl instead of a morning bird, and she's the one who pays for these vacations, so you can't really upset her ;) if we do our FP+ in the evening, it just makes her life easier and that's what I aim to accomplish on this trip.

Thank you!!! Pixie dust recieved!!! :genie:

Off to check out your PTR! :tiptoe:

OUR FP+ / A Small Debacle
60 days out

That's right. 60 days. And you know what that means.

WE HAVE OUR FP+!!! :stitch:

I stayed up until Midnight last night ready to pounce on A&E. I even pumped myself up by listening to "After Today" and "Stand Out" from A Goofy Movie.

♫ It ain't a question of "if", just a matter of time ♫
Finally, it was go time.

And I got most of what I wanted! Well... at first, at least.

See, the way I planned it was that I would pick our Animal Kingdom FP+ last. After all, the FP+ I wanted there are in the lowest demand so it only makes sense, right?

Well, when I tried to make AK FP+, it told me that we had maxed out all of our FP+ selections. And that's when I checked our reservation and realized something that made my heart stop...

We currently have 6-day Park Hopper passes, not 7.

It wasn't a massive deal, but I was stressing out at first because I made plans for 7 days. So if something had to give, it meant I had to do some serious re-planning. But when I explained everything to my mom and told her it would only be about $11 to upgrade each ticket from 6 to 7 days, she was totally on board. Guess what she answered when I informed her that she'd have to call Disney?

"Uh... actually, I'll call Steve."

;)

So once that gets taken care of, we can make our AK FP+ and all will be right with the world.

Enough stalling. Here are our awesome FP+ selections!

Pins & Needles & Mostly PINS!
53 days out

So, yes, as the title suggests... I'm totally on the edge right now. :faint:

For a couple of reasons!

Obviously, I can't wait to go to Disney World. It feels like it's getting dragged out all of a sudden... like, everything was going fast and now the days feel like they're in a freeze frame? What's that all about?

And also because I'm graduating sooooo soon. A week from Thursday, actually. We got our yearbooks in today!

I've only seen dumbo once
I don't know. I'm looking forward to graduating but also not, you feel me? It's scary to think that I'm going to college this fall. I'm anxious to graduate but not anxious to go to college. It's weird. Usually this time of year, I'm internally screaming my head off because I just want finals to be over and summer break to start. But this year I'm clinging to these past few days, especially since I'm exempt from all of my finals so I'll be missing four full days of school between this week and next. My last full day of school is tomorrow, then I have two half days on the 17th and 18th for graduation practice. All we're doing in all of our classes is watching movies right now. So, I'm finished with school. And instead of planning elaborate plans to escape the building in the middle of the school day, I'm just kinda like... huh? It's all over? Already?

And I'm NOT ready to part with my school iPad. I'll probably cry when I hand it in. This little baby went to Disney World with me, and Cape May, and Wildwood Crest, and anywhere else I went. It's got some great games and some great memories. I have to hand it in during lunch tomorrow.

School rant over.

Back to Disney!

One of my favorite past times, as some of you know, is pin trading. I love trading away pins, and I'm not quite sure why. Most of my souvenir money seems to go to those and pressed pennies... oddly enough. So, I've been thinking about pins lately. Here's my itty-bitty collection, built up on my 2010 and 2014 trips. It's a little embarrassing to show, it's very small

Here's the whole lanyard!

And the little pouch that broke in July...

Most of these pins will be traded away, I'm afraid, except for that 2010 pin I think. That broken animal kingdom pin has to go.

None of the cute little princesses are for trade!!!

... Or the ellie badge

... or peter pan.

So it's not a big or impressive collection, but it's my pin collection nonetheless. I'd like to incorporate more talk of my pin-trading endeavors in this next TR, too. I've grown to love people who post photos of their pins at the end of the day in their TRs.

I have to go back to preparing myself for graduation, camp, and my Disney adventures.

It's taking a very long time for everything to come along. Like I've been saying. Pins and needles.

I remember feeling really nostalgic over leaving high school. But, I can tell you that there is a "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow shining at the end of every day..." ;)

Enjoy this time of transition! Change can be hard but, its all good stuff! And the icing on the cake is that only have 53 days till go time! That's awesome!! :)
