on royal Caribbean cruise line can you bring a case or two of water on with your luggage I only drink water and do not want to drink tap water I have never been on a cruise and trying to decide between royal and Disney. also for my husband can he bring beer or not I know some cruises allow you to bring only one bottle of wine per adult. thanks for any info you have on this.

Officially, nothing but 2 bottles of wine per stateroom can be brought onboard.

Unofficially, apart from Spring Break-time cruises, apparently this isn't really reinforced.

There is bottled water available for purchase, either in a water package (12 one-liter bottles of Evian) or in the beverage packages (that water won't be Evian). The water packages are about the same cost as buying Evian on Disney, though I know that many bring their own water on Disney (did it once, won't do it again, it's SO heavy and we couldn't physically bring enough b/c we drink a LOT of bottled spring water, and had to buy Evian anyway!).

Please don't let the cost of bottled water stop you from cruising Royal, though. The cost of the water packages almost certainly won't bring your Royal cost up to Disney cost LOL.

We've taken water and soda on RC cruises with no issues. My siblings would have been fine paying for soda on the ship, but Mt. Dew wasn't available so they chose to bring their own. Theses can be confiscated in certain ports though, usually at spring break time as the previous poster mentioned. Carry on beer would not be allowed.

We decided to bring water on last month for the first time. I filled a small duffle bag with one gallon bottle of water and a half dozen 12 oz bottles of water. All were factory sealed. Checked the bag with our other luggage at the pier (sailing on Adventure out of Pan American pier in San Juan, Puerto Rico). The bag arrived with our other luggage, no evidence that it was looked through and all bottles were in tact/sealed.

I'd definitely do it again since it was convenient and saved a bit of dough. Plus you can bring whatever type of water you prefer if you are picky about that sort of thing.

I slapped a luggage sticker on a case of water and gave it to the porter with the rest of our luggage upon arriving at the port (Port Everglades for Oasis of the Seas). It arrived at our room with the rest of our luggage with no problem. I relaize it may well have never made it. I would just buy the package onboard (or pre-order it) if there was a choise other than Evian. That stuff tastes nasty. I don't understand that one. Both Disney and RCCL have Coke products onbaorad...why don't they also offer Dasani? I will try again to bring a case of water onboard Freedom in August. Not sure if I will will give it to the porter, or if I will try to carry it on a la DCL.

Dasani is local-to-the-bottling-plant, filtered, municipal water.

Evian is at least spring water. As is Crystal Geyser, which is the one most typically given with the drinks packages (you don't get Evian with those).

I understand we all have taste differences (I personally love Evian), of course.

That's funny, i thought my DH was the only one who hated Evian. He swears it tastes disgusting. To me, water is water - i can tell the difference in taste between evian and, say, crystal geyser, but they are both fine to me.

We always take a 6-pack or 12-pack of bottled water with us, usually in our carry-ons. We've never had an issue. A friend we sometimes travel with takes a few cans of pepsi products; also never been a problem. Other than potentially at spring break time, you would likely do fine to just check a case of water.

Forgot to mention - royal ships with coke freestyle machines have dasani, including flavored dasani. royal also has bottles of crystal geyser, a local spring water, for about $2.50/bottle - you can get them at pretty much any bar.

Good to know. I will not be getting any bottles of water with my package. Crystal Geyser tastes like this nasty asthma medicine I used to have to take. Water does you no good if you barf it right up.

I looked into getting the Coke Freestyle package (soda only) and they charge a gratuity. Is that usual? Who is getting that gratuity, if I'm the one washing my reusable mug (which comes with the package) and getting my own soda?

Gratuities get tacked onto everything on RCCL.

One hopes that the gratuity here goes to the folks that maintain the Freestyle machines. (Doubtful)

Maintaining the machines isn't service to me. It's an operating expense. If I can get the soda at a bar or lounge, as well, then I can understand a gratuity. I haven't cruised RC before, so I'm trying to figure things out. I guess I'll be getting my soda at the bars and lounges.

the soda package ALSO includes the option of bar service. hence, gratuity.

I didn't know the OPTION of bar service was included. If I opt out of bar service, can I opt out of paying the gratuity?

The gratuity isn't all that much, in my opinion. These people work so hard for so little money that I do not mind paying the gratuity on my package even though I am not very likely to utilize the bar service on my soda package. JMO

of course not. the package cost is the package cost, regardless of whether or not you avail yourself of every option that package has.
