4 Planned FastPass+ Test Happening Now!!

How does everyone feel about AP's getting a choice of four or five then people planning ahead also get a choice of four or five and then people coming into the park the day of only getting 3? Too confusing? Thoughts please
Personally I don't know what to think. We don't know why they're testing this and who it's actually for. I'm (very) cautiously optimistic that this is a good thing because everyone will be able to get four at some point.

I would take park hopping fp over 4
Even if it was just 1, a 4th at a second park
Would be easy to implement too since they know exactly what ticket you have in your account
Me too. We had trouble when we hopped recently and it would have been nice to have one for the second park already in place.

I'm just waiting to see if this sticks around at all... I honestly would take the 4 pre booked fast passes over the revolving one. Knowing I've got four guaranteed rides with fast pass lines sounds great when with the legacy system I'd be lucky to get 2 if I bothered to fight the crowds for them.

I'd be fine with 4fp+ guaranteed and no additional. In the mornings the lines are quite manageable with no fp+ at all. 4 headliners in the afternoon or evening sounds perfect to me. But, I don't think that's what this test is. I think they're just testing to see if they can allow 4 and still have decent 60/30 day availability. A busy time of year is the best time to test the system. Although only being for 2 days is a little strange- only Disney knows for sure. lol

This sounds just like the way it was when they started testing FPP... One bonus in MK. Although this sounds like all parks. Interesting. Well regardless I guess they can just move more spots from standby to allow for it. Four per booked would be a huge improvement especially for MK

unless they are testing into looking at stopping the extra FP and only giving 4 per day :(

cal

I wondered if something like this was coming with the removal of several kiosk locations.

Good point re: the kiosks. Honestly, I just don't have the will to get in the kiosk line (we go during busy times), so 4 guaranteed FPs would suit me just fine. I'd still do RD and use the FPs for later in the day at the same or different park.

Shaden, I'll take it either way. At MK right now and the crowds are honestly not that bad.

Maybe they are testing to see if people will change plans "spontaneously" if offered an extra FP
Maybe... Or could they be testing some kind of surprise type of allocation? Wasn't there talk of them contacting people with offers throughout the day in order to help disperse crowds?

Whatever it is, it can only be a good thing for planners. :)

We are local AP and already had FP scheduled for tomorrow. I went in and tried re selecting and I was able to re-pick four FP this time! On a good note, I was able to pick exactly what I had for the later afternoon...Btm, Splash and Space all at the same times I had, plus I added Buzz!

My daughter is a CM and is scheduled almost 60 hours this week! I guess they are expecting to be busy!

When FP+ was new in September 2013, I also received a 4th FP+ selection for Magic Kingdom. It was labeled as "Bonus FP+" on the selection screen. We were using it during the testing phase when double-dipping was possible. So, our first ever trip to WDW, we got 4 FP+ for Magic Kingdom, plus paper fast passes. It was pretty glorious.

Or a recognition that the system as it is/was isn't meeting the needs/wants/demands of the customer base ?

I think it's more about crowd dispersion and control. Every person using a FP is not in another line of their choice. I would guess that allowing a 4th fastpass being granted for another attraction that is not yet sold out - gets WDW closer to the true goal of dispersing the crowds more evenly throughout the park. It will also have the effect of giving even a higher advantage to onsite guests at 60 days without tiering. I wonder if an intro to that system is in the works as well for all parks.

There is no reason not to allow additional FP+ selections until they are sold out for the day...

This could set up an interesting social experiment. People who book in advance get 3. People who book for today get 4, but risk not getting 100% of what they want. Which would you choose?

No reason for this either - considering the obvious goal of giving onsite guests an incentive to use ME and Disney transportation to keep them on property for their entire stay, buy the DDPs, and spend money within the world at all hours (not just when parks are open).

Personally I don't know what to think. We don't know why they're testing this and who it's actually for. I'm (very) cautiously optimistic that this is a good thing because everyone will be able to get four at some point.

Again, I would guess it is likely that they want to use ALL the FPs for every day. If some for lesser attractions are not selling out - they will likely get closer with additional bookings. The motivation being crowd control...

Every silver lining has a grey cloud, huh? ;)

lol maybe, I usually find in life you get given in one hand while you pay out with the other!

Agree with both of these! I can picture a Disney executive walking down the hall humming...

"I see you've got your fist out
Say your piece and get out
Yes, I get the gist of it
But it's all right...

Sorry that you feel that way
The only thing there is to say
Every silver lining's got a
Touch of grey"

:)

Hmm. We're there in late April. How are people 'seeing' this 4th FP+? If I try 'book new FP+' it tells me that it's going to cancel the ones I have if I proceed. Obviously don't want to do that!! If I try 'modify', I only see the 3, no 4th.

Did I miss the boat on this? I'm using MDE on my Mac, is this 4th only showing on the phone app?

The test is going on through Wednesday only as of this time.
