Character meals solo

Has anyone gone to a character meal solo? I'm going in Oct. And want to go to the Crystal Palace for breakfast.

I went to the Tusker lunch character meal solo last month. I didn't know it was a character meal, I just was hungry and happened to be in Animal Kingdom at the time. I'm not much of a character meet and greet type of person and had I have known it was a character meal, I would have probably skipped it. I get a little stressed in those kinds of situations. Having said that, the characters were excellent. Mickey stopped by my table and was incredibly polite. I know they don't get the opportunity to actually talk, but Mickey did an outstanding job of pantomiming a very neat conversation. He sat at my table for a moment and then the handler came by and asked if I would like a picture. It was great! Daisy and Donald came by for pics eventually too. It was very cool and not as obtrusive as I had thought it might be. It definitely opened me up to getting more photos with characters, which I didn't think I'd be all that interested in. It's still a little awkward for me, but I'm just awkward in general, so there's that.

I love crystal palace, esp for breakfast! I say go for it! Believe me, there are many people that dine alone in disney world. You wouldnt be the first one!

I did a character meal at Tusker House and really enjoyed it. Not only was it lovely to see all the kids seeing Mickey and co but the characters were lovely with me and plenty of people offered to take photos of me with them.

Enjoyed it so much I've got 3 booked for my upcoming trip

I think character meal solo would be a step too far for me, at least for my first time as for some reason I only feel comfortable meeting them when others are with me, but if I was brave i'd go for it so do it :)

Do it! I actually did breakfast solo at Hollywood & Vine last year, because I watch way too much Disney Jr for an adult with no kids and Doc McStuffins and Sofia had just been added to the lineup. CMs and characters were all super sweet and CMs were very nice about taking pics for me.

My sis and I, then sis, Dad and I did CP breakfast on our trips in 1999 and 2004 (all adults) and had a great time. Pooh came up behind my dad and gave him a big hug around the shoulders; I got up to take a photo with Pooh then he tried to sit down at my place and finish my breakfast! I think the characters kind of enjoy playing with us "big kids" when they know we're into it.

If you want the meal there but not the characters you can always just leave your table for a moment to grab some food and they will continue right along to the next table.

I want to get pics with the characters. Just wasnt sure if it would be awkward or not going as a solo. I'm going to add The Crystal Palace to my list.

Yeah, definitely do it! I don't remember how CP was as far as handlers around to take pics, but if you want pictures and no one is handy, ask the character if they know of someone who could take a photo of you together, and they should be able to recruit a nearby CM or guest. I learned that on the Dis and used it at H&V, and Doc McStuffins recruited a great lady CM working near my table who gladly took photos for me with most of the characters (my server was around for one and was very nice about taking the pics, too).

So many people love Pooh & Friends, I guarantee you're not the first solo adult to go to CP for the characters. Have fun!

I have done about eight character meals alone and while the majority of them have been on Disney Cruises I once did a solo character meal at Cape May Café at the Beach Club Resort. If you are interested in a character meal go for it!

I used to think that, until I finally forced myself to do one-I was at BCV and really wanted a big breakfast, so I swallowed my fear and went to Cape May. I loved it! Great for people watching! And no one notices you as I'd feared-they're too busy looking for Goofy, Donald Duck, or whoever the characters are. And the characters are so "in tune" to what you're comfortable with as far as interaction. I didn't make any move to take pictures (I just wanted to eat and watch) so Minnie just blew me a kiss and waved whenever she went by. I had a great time and I've been to many character meals since then (including Crystal Palace and Tusker House).

On my solo trip in September 2014, I did two character meals, Garden Grill and Tusker House. Both were an absolute blast! The characters seemed every bit as happy to see me as I was to see them. The only awkward thing was at Garden Grill, the characters don't have handlers, so at first it was a struggle to find a CM to snap a photo for me. Thankfully, a very sweet young couple seated at the next table over volunteered to be my photographers, and one of them always jumped up with me when a character began heading our way. At Tusker House I didn't run into this problem, because the characters there each have a handler who is more than happy to take pictures for you. :cutie:

I always enjoy just whispering in the character's ear "I'd love to take a picture with you. Do you think anyone would take our picture?" The character always knows who to grab-maybe a server he/she knows. But what's really fun is that I've had the character take my camera, go to another table and motion for the guest to take our picture. That always elicits laughs and lots of fun!

I haven't, but I plan to. I want to do Princess Storybook and O'hana for Breakfast. I am looking forward to it.

I love this, such a lovely idea and fun interaction moment
