Texas: Buy a $100 Disney Gift Card, get a $15 H-E-B gift card coupon

What's HEB?
It's a Grocery Store almost entirely in Central and South Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Waco, etc.). They also have several stores in cities in Northern and Central Mexico. There aren't a lot of stores in the Dallas Metroplex, but a few stores have opened in the Southern suburbs (Burleson, Waxahachie, Ennis) Close to 30 million people live within a half hour drive to an H-E-B.

Okay I just got back from my HEB(Houston). The sign was up at the gift card area but when I paid for my $100 Disney Gift Card the coupon did not print out. The cashier sent me to the customer service desk who got the manager who knew nothing about this promo. An outside vendor takes care of the gift cards. He went and took the sign down and gave it to the customer service agent and told her to call the help desk. She was on hold forever with them and they had no clue about the promo either.

Told her to send a pic of the promo advertisement. In the end they told her to give me the $15 on either a gift card or cash. Since I had been waiting so long she gave me the $15 in cash, then I purchased another $100 Disney Gift card, and she also gave me $15 cash back.

So in the end I made $30 cash for $200 in Disney Gift cards. Not bad! Just expect confusion and make sure they have that sign out.

OK, I just got back from an Austin H-E-B and ran into the same issue you did. The Catalina system is not activated yet. Thanks to your story, I expected the problem and had a manager watch the transaction. We then talked with the store owner, and he opened a ticket with the Regional Office to see about updating the computer system so the catalina coupon prints out at all H-E-B stores in the state. He did assure me that I would at least get a $15 Gift Card as stated in the ad, but I am interested in buying many more of these, so I want the process fixed.

Stay tuned.

Same story with me when I purchased a $100 gift card at my Austin area (Round Rock) store earlier this afternoon. I did notice that the dates of the promo are listed 3/4/15 to 3/17/15 and there are small signs at the display (not coupons like there has been in past deals with HEB) and it is advertised as a "Spring Break" deal so Disney, Six Flags, and I believe Schlitterbahn are among the cards included and I think Chili's? If a Catalina printed, not sure what the dates would be valid for. I tend to lose track of Catalinas and don't keep up with the expiration dates, so gift cards are preferable to me. It was a hassle to get them to issue the $15 HEB gift card in customer service after the Catalina did not print. Guess it was the first time someone asked them about it since the 3rd person I saw finally issued the gift card. I did notice that "one per customer" is mentioned in the terms on the small sign on the display so I didn't want to ask if I bought $500 in gift cards, could get $75 back. We leave in about a week and I wanted to purchase a Memory Maker with the discounted gift cards as well as take some cards with me but if it is this troublesome, don't know if I will get too many more.

Yep. Sorry it is not working just yet. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out soon. And it'll work for Olive Garden Gift Cards too.

Following. We are headed to Disney in just over a week :). I was able to take advantage of this for our last trip and saved a lot.

The manager of my H-E-B will be calling me Monday at the latest with an update.

Great! I will keep an eye out for your update. We need to wait until Monday anyways-- DH is attending a conference for this trip, and before I go buy a whole bunch of gift cards to pay off the hotel room, we need to make sure that his company will still reimburse us if we pay in gift cards instead of a credit card.

HEB is Houston (new San Felipe store) didn't print out so I filled out a claim on Catalina website.

Has anybody been successful in Austin? I'll be there next weekend :)

I do not think it is working at any store right now. The help desk wasn't aware of the coupon so that makes me think the promo was put out but not added to the Catalina system. I guess I lucked out with the courtesy booth lady giving me the cash, the manager was too busy to deal with me.

Thank you for the information. Any word from your HEB manager? I'm hoping to see this get fixed, as I'd like to buy enough gift cards to cover our next couple trips.

Today, Tuesday, March 10th, I went by my HEB store in Round Rock (Austin area) and it looks like the signs about this promo have been taken down. My sister in San Antonio checked her store on Friday and she did not see any signs up. Hoping they resolve the Catalina problem and decide to go ahead with the promo. But if not, guess I should be happy I got $15 off the one $100 Disney card I purchased last week. Used it today to pre-purchase the Memory Maker for our upcoming Spring Break trip.

March 10th - I live in San Antonio and attempted to do this transaction for my sister that lives in Florida. I went to my local HEB plus customer service and bought a $100 Disney gift card and the Catalina did not print out. Note - there was no advertisement sign at the gift card rack of a promotion or any coupons so I knew I was taking my chances. I explained the situation to the customer service rep and what I was attempting to do. She tried and nothing printed and she talked to the manager and they investigated and could find nothing. It is fine because I'll give the card to my niece anyway but for now this promotion is not working. I hope it changes. I'll keep my eye out as I am at HEB almost every other day. It is a great store H.E.B. - Here Everything is Better. Lol.

Same story in New Braunfels :(
The signs were still up, so I was hoping the catalinas were set to go. Unfortunately when we purchased the first $100, no catalina!
By the time we were done at the store, 3 managers had tried to help, we ended up with a $15 gift card, and the signs were taken down. The last manager took our name and number and said he would look into it further, and follow up with us.
On the positive side, we did get the $15, or a better way to look at it is the $100 Disney card only cost $85:-)

Any updates on this? I know the promotion period is over but wondering if anyone heard back from the managers.
