I guess we'll just have to wait an see. Although, does that mean in 20 years we'll see the cool rides based on Monsters, Inc., Cars, Incredibles, WALL-E, Up and Brave. Frustration again. I digress, although probably too late.
I doubt we ever see an up, or brave attraction I would love to see them but just don't see it happening. Monsters and the incredibles were both very close to happening but didn't. Likely just cars and toy story coming. In the next 20 years I think the best rides DHS will see will be with Star Wars and not pixar.

You are probably right. I guess I'm hoping the removal of backlot tour was the opening of the real Pixar Place with several new additions, with Star Wars additions going in behind Star Tours (have to move a few storage buildings, but shouldn't be a huge deal) and in the former Drew Carey studio.

DHS has a lot of expansion room. Pixar will likely get a good amount of minor attractions, b, c or even d tickets but I doubt we see an e there. Star Wars will be the main focus in DHS.

I surely believe that pixar attractions are coming but based on all the facts I think Disney really wants RSRs to be a draw to DCA and not WDW.
There are a couple reasons I think it's going to happen. Just one though is all the cost savings.

You know how Disney loves to clone. Think of all those technologies they perfected just waiting to be used sitting around for a project. Like the extremely fluid cars mouths and face.

Yes Disney loves to clone, in a way RSRs is a clone, test track... Not one person with some sort of insight in the Disney company thinks RSRs is coming and I see why in many ways. I'd much rather have other things. Carsland makes me want to go to Disneyland and see it, it's a draw that's the point.

I've noticed the archway, as have my kids, but as stated, it is just a prop. There is nothing else back there, and with the current plans, nothing really changes. Just more of the one ride and one meet and greet.

They didn't buy new trains they rebuilt existing ones basically. I believe one train was out of service when the crash happened, they used parts from that train to fix the other one to get it back out. Then they rebuilt the trains that were involved and gave them a new color. Other than that there hasn't been any updates to the existing trains until now the new carpet. Also the crash was in 2009 it's now 2015 6 years later, an interior update definitely could've hapoened in that time. The only thing confirmed coming is the wall carpet that we have been seeing and new seats. What about a new paint job or or just a good interior cleaning to get rid of mold that has been showing up in some cases. Exactly how you said they were forced to spend that money, if there was no crash nothing would have changed. I also understand it's not the 1990s and attendance is higher. But Disney also has more employees than its did in 1990. I also know there aren't any down periods. But a lot of this simple work can be done overnight, or on days that all monorails aren't in service. For the past year they have been running lessened schedules for the monorails because of the automation upgrade. So they have been taking them out of service. Why not continue that and update them. I'm going to say this again. There once was a Disney standard that everyone lived to get to and Disney thrived on it and often exceeded that. Today they barely get there in many many areas. Disney can't live up to their own standard that's a problem.

So I talked with one of the monorail operators this weekend....(yeah, I know...bus driver right?) According to him, along with the control upgrade and interior upgrade, they are overhauling the drive trains one at a time, starting a little while ago with black. (under servicing now) Once the control system upgrade is done they will be able to run 6 trains on each loop as opposed to the current 4... but they just don't have the extra trains yet... No comment on getting them.

That's an interesting theory... And one that actually shows the "commitment" to the monorails that we've seen straw grasping for on this thread...

But the first thing that popped Into my mind when you said "six trains" Was...

Wheelchairs

As in neither the resort not express can get people on or off fast enough to use six trains. Which means station to station and holding patterns... And much slower speeds.

Net capacity gain of zero.

The EPCOT loop would benefit greatly though. Until one of six breaks down...

I knew that black was the first and the wall carpet has been showing up on more monorails now. I also know new seats are in the works. I agree with lockedout that 6 May be a stretch.

We can hope on the Star Wars front, but we'll have to see what they have in mind. If it's like the Pixar carnival ride idea, the I will just feel crushed.

Well I'm pretty sure tony was just referring to what's in store for disneyland since it was in a Disneyland event. But with that said everyone that has been rumored is the main focus will be Star Wars and the pixar kiddie rides are for the families. So Star Wars e ticket, pixar c tickets.
