Anyone stayed at Legoland Hotel CA?

Just when I thought our plans were all in place, the debate of whether or not go visit Legoland has risen again! My kids love the thought and saw the rooms at the Legoland hotel, have their hearts set on a pirate themed room. My kids will be 7 & 9 at time of travel, and they do love Lego. If we went we would only go for 1 night. We have 10 nights in CA, for Disneyland. Previously, every time I venture elsewhere other than Disneyland I am wishing I had just stayed at Disneyland - has anyone visited Legoland Hotel and did you and your kids enjoy it enough to not have that feeling of regret for missing a Disney day? Is Legoland itself worth a day trip? If it isn't up to Disney standard how does it rate compared to our Aussie theme parks? Still better?

Hi never been but we are planning on staying hopefully 2 nights at lego land hotel in oct when we go.
They will have Halloween on Friday nights I think then?
We have been to lego land in Malaysia, couldn't stay at hotel as was a week or so from opening then but it looked awesome! The park was good to was more for younger kids so maybe depends in ages. My kids were 3 and 6 then and will be 5 and 8 when we go this year. My 8 yr old boy is huge lego fan.
You also have the water park in Cali too but may only be open certain days?
Never been to disney so can't compare if its worth missing a day of disney for.
As for comparing to aust parks the Malaysia one was probably similar in size to qld ones. We did it in 1 day.
I think if the water park is open when you plan in going then it could be nice even if you then don't like the park you can go to the water park area for something different?

Have you read the reviews for the hotel and park? I just did and now i definitely want to go even more and stay there lol

We took our boys who were 8 and 10, in 2011. We stayed in Carlsbad for a few nights. The Legoland hotel wasn't open then but I would have looved to stay there.
Saying that, we really didn't love Legoland. After Disneyland, it was just disappointing. Maybe if you did it before Disneyland it would be ok. It was getting quite old, Colors fading, a bit dirty all around. The water park was very small and not much to do at all, and the aquarium was also very small.
I do love Disneyland, and now would probably spend all 10 days there, but if I hadn't done Legoland, and had a chance to stay at the hotel, and only missed a day or so, I'd probably do it.

I just read the trip advisor reviews on the hotel and they all sounds positive. We watched some videos on youtube with the kids and seriously, they think it is fantastic. Me? The hotel looks fun on the inside, I think I would enjoy the room for a night. It's a nice touch with the treasure hunt in each room for the kids and breakfast included. The actual park in the eyes of someone who loves Disney is quite ordinary and not all that exciting looking but in the eyes of my kids they love the look of it, so I'm thinking overall it might be worth the trip :goodvibes This might be instead of Universal Studios. The outlet centre near Legoland makes it even more worthwhile!

We stayed at the LEGOLAND Hotel for 1 night in 2013 when it was fairly new. Our kids were really too old for the park at that stage ( aged 9&11), but I was super keen to stay in the hotel. I find the park very average, but we we LOVED the hotel, it was awesome. We had an adventure room and the theming was fantastic. The kids swam in the pool at night, and we ate at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. We went at a quiet time so it was lovely and uncrowded. I wouldn't want to stay for an extended period but for 1 or two night the novelty factor was great.

Do you think just a stay at the hotel would suffice, then head back to Disney? Would I miss out on a great deal not going into the actual park? I am worried about giving up a Disneyland day to be at Legoland only to be underwhelmed.

We went in September 2013. The hotel was great; Lego was everywhere. We stayed in the premium pirate rooms and they were well set out and full of Lego themed things. For entertainment they had movie nights, Lego building competitions and Lego in the rooms to use. The entrance to Legoland is literally outside the hotel. That being said we struggled to get in for early entry because of the lack of attendants at the windows. When we finally got into the park, the queues were already quite long. The disco lifts were a highlight for my kids (4,6 and 8 at the time). We only went to the buffet for our meals. The kids loved it, I thought that it was average.
As for whether I'd give up a Disney day for Legoland. If you asked my kids, they'd say definitely. They loved it. I thought it was ok, but no where near DL standards (so there's no way that I would sacrifice DL time). My suggestion (and that of a few friends that have been to both parks) would be to do Legoland first. If you do DL first, Legoland may be a disappointment. That being said, my son is desperate to go to Legoland in Florida when we head to WDW next year, but we voted and are heading to universal instead.
