Marathon Weekend 2023

Hey friends! I grabbed a Dopey magnet for someone yesterday and they ended up being able to get one themselves, so I have one that I don’t need since I’m doing Goofy. I would like someone here to have it, so the first person who wants it that sends me a private message can have it.
 
Holy moly are my feet shot tonight. Currently soaking them in an epsom salt bath, taking Motrin, and I’m going to stay off them as much as possible tomorrow (the race, HH, and a 5:00 dinner are our only plans tomorrow.) Does anyone have any suggestions for someone who clearly overdid things on Tuesday, overdid it just a little on Wednesday, and is paying for it today?

Thinking I might sleep in my compression socks tonight too…

I did a bit too much today myself. My plan is to soak with a recovery bath bomb I got at the expo after tomorrow's race.

Bedtime routine for DH and I is to foam roll calves, use a lacrosse ball to roll out tight feet, followed by foot/ankle contrast baths for 20 min total (alternating warm/ice water), and finish with a good slathering of Diclofenac (or Voltaren).

We also try and cap walking to no more than 10-15,000 extra steps above race requirements as best we can.

Tender feet are no fun! Feel better soon!
 
Ok I think it's safe to post this.... I am finally in the air (as I type) en route to MCO with mind bending easy airport non-issues. I am running the half, originally booked on the 7am flight out of Boston tomorrow... moved that to an 8pm flight tonight to avoid a weird "maybe rain maybe snow" storm forecasted for tomorrow morning. (Also, hello, massive FOMO these past few days and just want to get there)

Got to airport at 5:54pm. I was literally in the delta lounge with a class of wine in hand at 6:10pm (!). Zero people in the airport. I have TSA and Clear, but there were actually more people in the TSA clear line and no one in the regular security line. What?

No complaints. So happy to be on my way, Staying one night at Swan Reserve on points (excited to try it because we are a big Marriott/AmEx point family) and then check into VGF tomorrow. I'll be at expo at 10am sharp!

Is HH meet up tomorrow at 2pm?

No suggestions but solidarity. I just took an ice bath and am now doing one with a bath bomb. I guess my suggestion is to use your gear bag to transport ice to your bath tub easily lol

As someone who’s never had to deal with running induced blisters before (I count myself lucky) I made a poor shoe choice Tuesday in the parks and am dealing with major toe and heal blisters on one foot. Was good for the 5k but tomorrow will be the real test. Picked up a load of extra bandages from medical this morning to supplement what I had brought.
 
I feel for those of you who overexerted your feet! As someone who’s never had to deal with running induced blisters before (I count myself lucky) I made a poor shoe choice Tuesday in the parks and am dealing with major toe and heal blisters on one foot. Was good for the 5k but tomorrow will be the real test. Picked up a load of extra bandages from medical this morning to supplement what I had brought.
I feel you. Bring those bandages to the race, no shame in sitting mid-race and reapplying. If you are dopy or doing the half, see if you can track down a real aloe vera plant leaf. Nothing speeds healing more than an overnight dose of 100% aloe vera from the source, scouts honor.

Legs up the wall from yoga also helps.
 
You can either 1) take a bus to any resort, then get the Disney Springs bus 2) Take a bus to Saratoga Springs and walk 3) Take a bus to Saratoga Springs, Old Key West or one of the Port Orleans and take a boat or, most efficient method 4) take an uber/lyft
Thanks, I decided it would be fun to take a boat I wasn't in too much a hurry. but after waiting 20 mins with no boat in site I hopped a bus from old key west.

Got a later start than anticipated, and just jumped into the Launchpad line. The Chip and Dale line is posted at over an hour wait :sad2:. Hoping for even a slightly shorter line by the time I finish!
